Lots of covid but no flu

How can there be no flu. It can't just vanish because of covid. So could it be that people are getting flu rather than covid. So are the covid numbers even right? 🤔

Sorry that was meant to read as r of 3 without mitigation that could be as high as 5 ( in some mutations if they are allowed to burn through poulations)

Sales of cold and flu remedies has fallen by a huge amount this winter.
I shall continue to wear a mask and keep a distance in shops etc after lockdown ends.
