Eligible to book on NHS vaccine website - vaccinators say queue jumper

My dad is 63 and had his vaccine today by booking the appointment via the NHS booking link. As of yesterday over 60s became eligible. However, the vaccinators at his appointment were not impressed and said he should not have booked as he is not over 65 and he should have waited for a letter. They said he has queue jumped. Is this right? That if it allows you to book, you shouldn't unless you receive a letter?

@ajandjjmum

Hope your friends get sorted, I'd have been upset in their shoes

@MrsScrubbingbrush

fantastic! Hoping to get my first one before I go back to work on April 12th - I'm group 9

WombatChocolate · 01/03/2021 19:38

NotSorry, I think you will get it before April 12 in Group 9, no problem.

They are whizzing down the age group categories now and lots of areas are expected to be into Group 10 as the month turns into April.

NotSorry · 01/03/2021 21:03

@WombatChocolate keeping my fingers crossed!

rosegoldwatcher · 02/03/2021 17:17

I had a letter from the NHS, this morning, asking me to book my vaccination appointments on that website. The letter quoted my NHS number - I had been fretting that I didn't know it.

Both appointments now in place - first one on Saturday afternoon.
NB - I'm 60.

NotSorry · 03/03/2021 07:21

That’s reassuring @rosegoldwatcher the gov said 60s+ from 1st March - good they’re getting letters out so fast

NotSorry · 06/03/2021 09:35

Website is updated to 56 and over

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/how-you-will-be-contacted/

NotSorry · 08/03/2021 19:07

Now updated to 55

WombatChocolate · 08/03/2021 19:22

And apparently it is letting 54 year olds book too.

Remember, if it lets you book, you are eligible. You don’t need a letter first.

And if you’re a year or 2 younger than what the front page says, always worth inputting your details, as it often will let you book and just hasn’t updated front page.

The faster you book, the faster you are jabbed and so are all the others waiting.

NotSorry · 08/03/2021 19:25

I do keep trying but I'm 53 and the computer still says NO

WombatChocolate · 08/03/2021 19:28

Notsorry.....you will be next! I reckon you will be let through by the end of the week.

NotSorry · 08/03/2021 22:10

@WombatChocolate

That’s what I’m hoping for
