I went for it, booked a 3 night stay in London in August! Anyone else booked a holiday?

I love London and go often, really missed the place. Booked with all cancellation options available so refund won’t be an issue if things change.

I’m excited, even though it’s only a mini break but it’s a start Grin and really hoping all will still be good by August, I’m actually feeling really positive about it.

Anyone else booked?

4 nights in Falmouth in July - again I can cancel the day before if necessary

Flowersinthewindowstill · 23/02/2021 16:20

I live in London but am tempted to book Brighton for June/July. Have only ever been once and that was for a hen, so not much sight-seeing involved Grin

SoCrimeaRiver · 23/02/2021 16:21

Yes, 2 weeks in Scotland in July. hopefully we'll be allowed over the border at Carlisle by then. Final payment is early May but we get a refund if Covid stops the holiday.

SeldomFollowedIt · 23/02/2021 16:24

Booked a haven holiday in January for this August. Horrified to discover the exact same holiday/accommodation has now been increased by a further 600 pounds! I had a feeling that would happen hence early booking. To pay 1400 plus is outrageous for a caravan break in this country.

Beaniecats · 23/02/2021 16:24

Yes a week in a cottage in Shropshire and racing tickets, both August

BraveheartBella · 23/02/2021 16:25

@SeldomFollowedIt awful that prices have increased so much! Shock

Had booked two already earlier in the year (both uk!). Booked an extra 2 UK mini breaks yesterday approox 4pm (again both uk).

Totallyfedup1979 · 23/02/2021 16:27

Yes, 6 weeks in the US over the summer.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 23/02/2021 16:27

Well I have a couple carried over from last year so am just crossing fingers on those.
Have just booked a weekend to Amsterdam in November though and thinking about my postponed big birthday for next February- I fancy somewhere exotic!

SeldomFollowedIt · 23/02/2021 16:29

@BraveheartBella

Very steep for a caravan that you cannot even swing a cat in. Thankfully I booked in January, I wouldn’t have paid the prices that are currently being advertised.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 23/02/2021 16:30

Yes. 2 trips to Greece to visit family. Crete and Athens, June and August respectively.

Booked ages ago, with a good move/cancellation policy and found a good deal so booked.

I'd rather have something in the calendar to look forward to knowing we could have to move it than have nothing.

CeeJay81 · 23/02/2021 16:30

Booked air b n b in Edinburgh for 4 nights a couple of weeks ago. Got family there and it is such a great city. A trip to the zoo with the kids, my dad and my 92 year old gran if she's up to it. Hoping we'll be able to go by then. 😁

BraveheartBella · 23/02/2021 16:43

Fingers crossed for us all!

I’ve a feeling this summer will be so much more positive than last year.

I know it’s early days but it’s really good to have something to look forward to.

Onwards and upwards Grin

We were supposed to be going to Spain at Whit. It looks unlikely and I have moved to August but I think unlikely it will happen - not impossible though. I expect to move it to summer 2022 (was supposed to happen summer 2020). Last night booked cottage in Somerset for Whit. Which I hope is realistic.

HettySunshine · 23/02/2021 16:47

We booked a week at a Haven for May half term this year in May last year. It never even crossed our minds that we would still be in this position.

Desperately hoping we can still go but there is a full Covid guarantee on it.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 23/02/2021 16:48

Yep, June and August, both UK. Hoping to go abroad in September!

ClaudiaWankleman · 23/02/2021 16:52

Looking forward to seeing the tourists in London again (never thought I’d say those words!)

Blabla81 · 23/02/2021 16:52

We have managed to book a caravan in Mullion - £650 for a week. I think we’ve got lucky. Am expecting everything to book out quickly now.
We’re also supposed to be going to Northern Cyprus over the May half term with my entire family - it was re booked from the same time last year. Am praying it won’t go ahead now for various reasons.

Blabla81 · 23/02/2021 16:53

In August for Mullion that should say.

TheGoingIsGood · 23/02/2021 16:57

@ClaudiaWankleman

Looking forward to seeing the tourists in London again (never thought I’d say those words!)

This ! I went to a hospital appointment the other day, the place is spookily empty still.

Loopyloututu2 · 23/02/2021 17:01

As soon as Boris made his announcement last night I got on my IPad
and booked a weekend in the Lakes for the end of April. I don’t even care if anything is open, we just need a change of scenery.
I’d already booked Cornwall for July months ago as I anticipated it being extremely busy this year - good job as there was literally only this one property left in our desired spot! It’s gorgeous too - I can’t wait.

gillybean2 · 23/02/2021 17:05

An event I was supposed to be attending aug bank holiday weekend appears to be going ahead. So I booked 3 nights in a hotel a week ago just in case but it’s full refund if I cancel 24 hours before arrival. I won’t be going if I haven’t had my vaccine in good time before, and still not convinced it’ll be going ahead at all as it is an indoor event.

BraveheartBella · 23/02/2021 17:10

@ClaudiaWankleman I can’t WAIT!

We did manage to have a short break in London towards the end of August last year, but even though restrictions had eased, it was still quiet, compared to what we are used to.

It might still be the same this time but I’m hoping there will be lots of places open and less restrictions, even though the tube was lovely (outside of peak times)!

OP posts:
LaBelleSauvage123 · 23/02/2021 17:27

Yep - short break in Dorset from 12-14 April ( I know, I know), camping for one night in May and contemplating another weekend in Northumberland in July. We can't go away for long because of disabled DS, but I am SO excited at the prospect! All can be cancelled up to 2 days before,

MaudesMum · 23/02/2021 17:32

I've just booked flights to Italy in early September. I'm also part of a group which is supposed to be renting a house in Scotland at the end of July, but since the group is made up of quite a few different households we may not all be able to go - leaving the person who's organising it with a difficult decision or two!
