Should we be thanking the government/Matt Hancock's team?

Just seen the interview doing the rounds between Matt and Piers Morgan this morning on GMB. Matt Hancock was 'exasperated' that his team weren't getting the thanks for all their efforts and Piers Morgan refused to because they made mistakes.

Aren't we at the point now, where we do need to thank Matt Hancock and the government? They've done so well on the vaccines and now we have a genuine road map out of this crisis.

I do think if the government want the credit for what has gone well, they need to take the blame for what has gone wrong

I don't know if you've noticed but they're politicians - and politicians readily accept the first but move swiftly somewhere else when it comes to the second

As seen this very morning with Cock's mulish refusal to accept responsibility for illegality

When they are open about all the things they did wrong including the appallingly untransparent and nepotistic contracting that has squandered billions, I will allow them to claw back a few crumbs of credit for not making the same mistakes with vaccine procurement and delivery (which by contrast appears to be mostly using pre-existing government and NHS structures, where the individuals involved should indeed be recognised and rewarded).
