Unpaid respite carers

Does anyone know if unpaid respite carers are included in group 6?

I'm really not sure as paid carers are included in earlier groups, unpaid carers are in group 6, but unpaid respite carers provide temporary care and I can't decide if the wording includes them.

But they can't distance from the person they are caring for whilst they have them, so maybe they are.

Does anyone know?

Are you acting in a semi professional/ volunteer role or more family friend type care?

How frequently are you providing care?

If the former I would say you would be eligible. Not so sure about the later. Perhaps give your go a call and ask them?

Paid respite through social services is eligible. I wouldn’t have thought unpaid respite was as it’s only the main carer that’s entitled unless 2-1 care is required. So in my case only I am entitled even though dh also takes care of ds
