This has really cheered us up as we await further details of the um road map.

Apparently they chose March 8th on purpose as by mid April all over 50s would be vaccinated and this would have given time for immunity to develop (I paraphrase)

If you can understand his plan any better do elaborate. I think the underlying principles of vaccinating vulnerable people are really good but it ... sort of goes wrong.

He said this twice this morning! Why has no interviewer asked him what he means?!
herecomesthsun · 22/02/2021 14:42

Really?? twice!! I assumed he just got tangled up on air, but do you think this is their actual plan Shock

Possibly it is a road map for a De Lorean

He misspoke

It's obvious he said April when he meant February, because 3 weeks after the most vulnerable groups 1-4 were due to be vaccinated takes us to 8 March, the date he was talking about.

Beebityboo · 22/02/2021 14:45

I literally have no idea what he's fucking on about and he said it twice 😂 it's funny but also pretty worrying that our government doesn't seem to realise March comes before April.

gingercat02 · 22/02/2021 14:46

He fucked up on BBC breakfast this morning too but Louise Minchin did get him to clarify that he meant the vulnerable groups not the over 50's. Idiot!

StillDumDeDumming · 22/02/2021 14:48

But it's not that he meant February is it because he is talking about having vaccinated all over 50s - three weeks before the 8 March - but that hasn't happened.

He spectacularly messed up an answer on asthmatics when he should have been well briefed last week.

But even if he got the date wrong and meant mid February - which is now, well last week - not all over 50s have had their vaccines. Groups 1-4 are over 7os and the extremely vulnerable. Groups 5-9, which a lot of working age people are in and who are still vulnerable to covid, won't have been vaccinated at that point, so his plan still doesn't work.
herecomesthsun · 22/02/2021 14:50

There aren't many parents at school over 70 (the groups currently being vaccinated round here) but there are quite a few secondary school parents (and teachers) over 50. What a shame they couldn't have been vaccinated before the kids went back.

Could he not stick to that bit Smile

I hope he didn't say vulnerable groups because that's not right either. I think people are allowed to get things wrong but he is not doing well currently
Fgs1 · 22/02/2021 14:50

So he’s just justified why 8th MAY is a safe date to open schools rather than 8th March

PatriciaHolm · 22/02/2021 14:50

His brain was thinking "May 8" whilst his mouth was saying "March" I think.

So all back to school by 8 May? Interesting
herecomesthsun · 22/02/2021 14:52

He made a good argument for May 8th mind you

He fucked up at a press conference recently

JCVI/MHRA put cohabitants of CEV (particularly those with haem malignancies and other immune suppressive conditions) into cat 6 in November. It was suspended in Dec, pending more info on effect on transmission.

Since JVT said it was inconceivable there was no effect, he was asked about reinstating that group ASAP - his answer ‘no changes to JCVI list’

When they fucking well are on JCVI list pending fulfilment of a proviso that has now been fulfilled

So disappointing

BettyBoomerang · 22/02/2021 14:55

Oh my God what an idiot. These muppets are running the country!

BettyBoomerang · 22/02/2021 14:58

Wait I’ve just twigged that this vaccine minister is the same creep that went to that men-only gala with hired women that got groped. I know it’s not related but I just realised who he is. Urgh.

Just add it to the list of many things they don't seem to realise.

😂

I've met him. Trust me, he is a useless plonker. His 'advisers' couldn't get him away quick enough as he was clearly about to mess up the conversation he was having with me in front of a classroom of teenagers Hmm.
