Will the day ever come where ALL restrictions are lifted?

The constant rule changes, today exercise only, few weeks picnics allowed, 2 households, 3 households, back to stay at home. It's exhausting trying to keep up and I can't stomach this feeling that how many of my family I see will be decided by the government for the rest of my life.

Will we ever hear the day where they come on that bloody conference and says "all restrictions are lifted"?? This should be a ridiculous question with only one answer, of course, but it just doesn't feel that way anymore. Honestly it feels like this will never end. Surely the control has to stop at some point?

I fucking hope so.

LucyMaxwellDM · 22/02/2021 09:43

Of course it will. But all restrictions won’t be lifted at once, it will have to be bit by bit.

Marino · 22/02/2021 09:44

Not trying to fear monger. I've just lost all hope. I hope it's just getting to me and that I'm being stupid. I honestly feel like I'll never (legally) have my whole large family in one room again.

I agree OP it seems endless and the amount people are willing to give up seems endless too (well on mumsnet anyway) in real life people are fed up and planning on doing what they want after the end of March.

We are seeing family and friends indoors from April regardless of the rules. We have no school age children in our family/friend group so while it’s great that they can all cram back into classrooms in March it has no baring on our lives at all yet it’s still illegal for me to have a cup of tea inside at my friends house? Children need to be in school I get that but expecting the whole population to stay locked down so that can happen after already giving up nearly a year of our lives is too bigger an ask

I haven't seen my dad or siblings in over a year and can't until overnight stays and household mixing is allowed. I just feel like crying today.

@Oysterbabe - my family live away & our plan this year is to use hotels or air bnb. I’m not expecting household mixing indoors until summer so we are booking a hotel near my family & we’ll meet in their garden or park or whatever is allowed! Outdoor mixing is coming .. so better than nothing!

Alternatively, could you meet in the middle? We did that last year a couple times. Found a half way point & had a nice day in a country park!
