Eligible on website - is a letter on the way?

Hi my dad is 63 and I decided to put his details in the NHS book vaccine website and it allowed me to proceed and pick a date and time and location for the booking. When I tried with my mum (60) it said she is not eligible to book through the service. However, my dad has refused to book saying he needs to wait for his letter and not skip the queue. As the website allows him to book, does that mean a letter is on its way to him?
@ThePricklySheep She had been told 2 days prior that a letter had been sent and to wait for it ( so if she had waited for it, she would still be unvaccinated 🙄)
Oh I see! Maybe it was still the system and then got stopped.
Or maybe it just got lost.

I wanted to update that I convinced my dad to have the vaccine by saying it will speed things up for people in the queue behind him. He had it today by using the link to book and has now rang me to say the vaccinators were not at all happy as he is 63 they told him he jumped the queue and should have waited for a letter!! They vaccinated him as he was there! He is not happy at all with me!!

Thanks for the update OP. He'll forgive you and is probably relieved he's had it, even though it was his turn

The NHS link certainly does say 65 and over. DH and myself are both entitled through work, I couldn't even get through the door without having to provide a payslip/work badge and DH had to provide a letter from the organisation he's a member.

Thanks for the update. How his letter arrived in the next couple of days to get you out of trouble, but even if it doesn't at least he's done jab1 now, and it will speed things for others nonetheless

It allowed me to book on Saturday, I received the letter today! So hope that reassured you!

😂😂 he will get over it....and you have piece of mind that he is ‘done’
Fruitbatdancer · 24/02/2021 12:16

Ps our local vaccine hub had put out a Facebook message ask all over 60’s to go along as walk ins. So why they even bothered saying that to him I don’t know!

Abraxan · 24/02/2021 12:22

Why did they ask him about his eligibility and letter?
I've not be to,d to take any 'proof' with me for my vaccine today so how will they even know how or why I'm eligible?

gisbons · 24/02/2021 12:23

Yes, it means he is eligible to book.

The vaccinators were not only rude, but lying.

Those who know me know I’ve been banging this 🥁 for a while, but....

The website will not let you book if you are not eligible!
