When will "these times" cease to be "unprecedented"?

I keep reading/hearing that expression - "Hope you are keeping safe in these unprecedented times", "Dealing with stress in these unprecedented times", etc etc.

It's been a year. Surely "these times" are pretty "precedented" now? And in any case, there was the Spanish flu pandemic. So, strictly, "these times" are not "unprecedented".

When oh when will that phrase stop being trotted out???

(Can you tell that everything is irritating me in these unprecedented times )

Oh yeah, that one too! At least that can only happen once, so this summer coming (for instance) will not be "a summer like no other"

That’s true.

The annoying thing about it being “unprecedented” is, of course, that it is actually unprecedented. There is another pandemic that’s been ongoing for nearly 40 years (HIV / AIDS) and whilst they aren’t common, it is certainly “precedented”.
