Just that really. The email went to my bloody junk folder. I'm wondering if they are sending letters in the post too. Will make it feel more real?

suddenly a load of colleagues have this letter....i believe through the post

they didnt shield first time round its all so confusing!

the public had better not start moaning....we are retail and these people now shielding were full timers. nobody wants anymore abuse so theres no takers for overtime to cover either

Doublechins · 20/02/2021 23:09

user1471530109 · 20/02/2021 23:16

That's interesting. I wonder if it's a one or the
Other?

zobalina77 · 20/02/2021 23:38

I got an email on Thursday and a letter through the post this morning.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 20/02/2021 23:38

I had an email on Thursday. No letter as yet.

I had a text inviting me to book the vaccine today.

BrownEyedBlonde · 20/02/2021 23:46

I’ve had shielding emails, letters, texts from the beginning. I usually receive a shielding letter a few weeks after the email.

Squiffy01 · 20/02/2021 23:53

I had the email, letter hasn’t arrived yet. Mine have always arrived a week or so after the email though ( apart from lockdown 1 where I weirdly got the letters first).
@MrsMercedes I was reading on the BBC the other night that they have studied deaths from the first wave and have added 1.5 million more people the the shielding list based on that. Said they are going through medical files and giving people scores based on ethnicity, weight, medications, health conditions, possibly more but can’t remember. So lots more people added to the list and to the vaccines priority group. Extended as well until end of March when it was fit to finish next week originally.

My partner got a hard copy letter on Friday.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 24/02/2021 14:45

Email came on Thur 18th
Paper copy on Tue 23rd

treeblossomout · 24/02/2021 15:00

Did the email come via the GP or from a central place?

We think the GP have overruled my DD's QCovid shielding and/or vaccination and are worried they were supposed to send email but didn't. And our post is approx. once weekly so if a letter were sent it would arrive weeks/months later. Or never, if the GP were supposed to email instead.

Rockbird · 24/02/2021 15:43

Got shielding letter yesterday and another one today about booking vaccine. And to think I was worried I'd be missed out... Hmm

Nosideeffectsatall · 24/02/2021 16:06

I got the email last Wednesday (I think) and received both shielding letter & vaccination invite letter today, both dated 19/02

Nosideeffectsatall · 24/02/2021 16:06

@treeblossomout Central

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 24/02/2021 16:07

I got a letter on Monday after the email

treeblossomout · 24/02/2021 16:08

@Nosideeffectsatall
Thank you. Hopefully it will get sorted out then.

BeeFarseer · 24/02/2021 16:09

I got the email on Thursday the 18th Feb. Haven't had a letter yet. I didn't even realise I'd had the email until the Friday as it went to an old email address. I started getting texts about telling my energy company I'm vulnerable, which made me check.

UpstartCorvid · 24/02/2021 16:11

@zobalina77

I got an email on Thursday and a letter through the post this morning.
Same here.
Kittykat93 · 24/02/2021 16:14

What do you mean op by a letter will make it feel more real? Does a year of this not already feel 'real' to you?? But answering the question, I got my shielding letter about 4 days after a text message. I am not shielding though.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 24/02/2021 16:25

@user1471530109

Email Friday (18th)
Actual letter today (24th) -dated 18th

I was expecting it though, from the news. I've been exceedingly careful since the beginning as I was sure my combined underlyings would mean I was CEV rather than CV, but until the vaccinations were rolled out It wouldn't have made much difference to my life

It was a little bit unsettling to have it confirmed that I'm as vulnerable as I felt I was.

I can understand how unsettling it must be if you hadn't felt vulnerable previously.

I was very fortunate that I got my vaccination on the 6th Feb (as a G6).

I'm kind of glad I didn't get one with the original lot this time last year, as I would have been even more worried, but on the other hand it was pretty bloody obvious, so that's worrying it's taken so long for them to join the dots!

I now have to decide what to do about my job 🙇🏻‍♀️

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 24/02/2021 16:30

@Rockbird

Definitely a bit of non joined up stuff going on. I've got several communications re vaccination bookings, and I've already had mine. But still, better that then people not getting the information they need.

What is weird though is constantly being addressed as though I'm not an independent adult. I understand their generic letters snd I don't 'mind', it's just weird.

user1471530109 · 24/02/2021 17:12

Thanks all. I got the hard copy of the letter yesterday. To be honest, I like the confirmation as I felt like colleagues thought I was over the top with me precautions at work. I'm a teacher and I was the only member of staff wearing a mask in September and until they were made compulsory. I do feel it is far too late now though. I've been in the firing line for a whole term at work with 30+ teenagers facing me etc. My consultant had asked the school to make allowances for me but legally, the school didn't have to do anything and tbh I don't blame them! All down to money. So now I have that letter, I feel protected.

But now guilty. Especially now the kids are going back.
