Because I feel like shit. I feel like I have flu!

NB this thread is not trying to scare anyone. I am very pro vaccination and even if I’d know how ill I’d feel afterwards, I’d still have got the vaccination.

I was hospitalised with Covid last April, and have suffered Long Covid ever since - permanently breathless at 100 yards and with regular relapses of fatigue and muscle aches.
I had the Pfizer vaccine a week ago, and apart from a sore arm have just had my usual long Covid symptoms, but with a fuzzy head and extra tiredness/sleepiness.

I’m really sorry to hear about the long Covid. It sounds awful.

I haven’t had the vaccine yet, but it’s been noted as more common to receive mild side effects, such as yours, in those who have previously had covid

Thank you, that’s really interesting. I wonder why that is. Obviously I’m no expert but you would think if you’d already been exposed to it your body would deal with the vaccination more easily.

Ah I’ve just read that it’s because your body has a stronger immune response. I guess it’s a positive thing then really

When did you have your vaccine OP? Mine was today but I’m feeling ok at the moment. I was warned that, as I’d had Covid previously, I might get more side effects but nothing thankfully, not even a sore arm! I’m sorry you’re feeling poorly. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t feel horrible later.

User5768 · 20/02/2021 16:26

I had my vaccination on Thursday afternoon and started feeling rubbish the next day.

Fingers crossed too that you don’t feel rubbish later on.

It’s still worth it though.

I agree OP, I’ve waited so long for this vaccine. Getting Covid was terrifying for me as I ended up in hospital twice. Roll on the second injection for us all!

I had the Oxford AstraZeneca and was fine until 12 hours later where my heart rate went to 112, so did husbands. Thankfully settled after 10 hours. We also had fevers. Never had covid before.

I had Pfizer on a Thursday evening, went to work as normal on the Friday but started to feel tired and achey mid way through the afternoon. Went to bed as soon as I got home on the Friday and slept for 12 hours. Tired all weekend but was all good by the Monday.

I tested positive for Covid twice last year - with a negative result in between. I had the AstraZeneca vaccine yesterday afternoon and woke this morning with an aching, heavy arm. Headache started about an hour ago - but was told that these side effects will only last a couple of days.

I had Pfizer on 16th Jan. I had almost no side effects! Slight sore arm the next day but didn't feel unwell at all. Got lucky.

girlofthenorth · 20/02/2021 19:41

Watching closely as I had covid after I'd already had my Pfizer vaccine back in December . I have my second jab next week and really worried about the side effects especially as I've been feeling really fatigued since having covid . That's my only left over from the illness though so fingers crossed for ok result. Hope you feel better soon OP .

User5768 · 21/02/2021 14:25

Just thought I’d pop back on to give an update and hopefully a bit of reassurance.

I feel so much better today, a bit of a headache and my arm is still sore but a million times better. Feeling really rubbish lasted less than 48hrs.
