Asian Group 6 husband had vaccine yesterday: very grateful

I don't know why I am posting this except perhaps to encourage more Asian people to take up the vaccine. ( I don't want to use the hated term 'BAME".) My husband, 52, type 2 diabetic in Group 6, had the AstraZeneca vaccine yesterday. No side effects except a bit of tiredness so far.
Extremely grateful to the NHS and vaccine scientists. I have only recently moved to the UK and there is no way he would have got this in my home country so soon.
If you are in Group 6 and have not got a letter, may be worth calling your GP. The relief! We are going to continue distancing, but it is just
a bit of extra reassurance ahead of schools opening.

That's great. I know I was so relieved when my Asian dad had his, just waiting for the second one now.

Well done, I wish more people would come forward and say they have had the vaccine and it was fine.

Update: a bit of fever and a headache this afternoon but it went away with paracetamol.

I had it yesterday and have had no side effects whatsoever - not even a sore arm.
UnwantedOpinionBelow · 20/02/2021 18:54

That’s fantastic. So happy for you.

grandmasterstitch · 20/02/2021 23:39

I had mine this morning and I'm exhausted but DS woke me up at 5.20 so it might not be the vaccine. I'm also quite cold which again isn't too unusual fir me. If these are my side effects then I'm happy

Great news. I hope you will be able to persuade friends to get the vaccine.

Thanks for all the lovely responses, everyone. Still feel v grateful 2 days later. I have family in the US as well and they have no idea when they will get it.

Congratulations and thank you for posting this. Every time I hear about another person vaccinated (especially in the later groups), I have a little bit more hope of social summer.

Redrunbluerun · 21/02/2021 09:31

As others have said, these lovely vaccine posts give me hope! I’m months away from mine but I genuinely get a warm feeling hearing of every single one Smile thanks for posting!

Though the latest announcement is saying everyone over 16 by end of July. What a remarkable achievement.
