Booking vaccine online

Cupcakefairy12 · 20/02/2021 04:29

I went into the website today to see what it was about and for some reason in my area it was letting me book a slot fir the vaccine. It asked my details nhs no. And am I extremely clinically vulnerable I said no, had I been asked to shield answered no but then it still let me proceed? I am classed as clinically vulnerable but didn’t think (nor does the website state) they are vaccinating fir this category yet. My question is would you book fir the vaccine. There was lots of slots fir as early as today!

I booked yesterday. For today. There were tons of appointments available.

WombatChocolate · 20/02/2021 11:55

I don’t understand why some group 6 people seem able to use the national booking system and others (like me) get cut off when it asks if we are an eligible care/social care worker.

Or have you all been added to the shielding list too and that’s why you’re using the system okay...or is it a localised system and not the national booking one?

Redcherries · 20/02/2021 11:55

@Romanticrights my husband is booked as he's caring for me (cev) but we found the site really confusing as on one hand its says you can book if caring for someone cev but then it says you'll be contacted ion doing shopping or cleaning for someone vulnerable. You couldn't shed some light on it for me could you please?

Cupcakefairy12 · 20/02/2021 12:11

@MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet I also had GD in my last pregnancy so whether that has made me eligible some more I’m unsure. I’m not complaining, feel so lucky.

@MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet

You inspired me *@Cupcakefairy12* to check (am asthmatic but wasn't sure it was severe enough) and had gestational diabetes and saw a lot of people had recently been asked to shield in that group.

I'm now eligible! So booked in for this week. Bit nervous actually!

Can I ask where you booked ? Was it in the nhs site ? My son has asthma but it won’t let him book.
Cupcakefairy12 · 20/02/2021 12:29

It was the nhs site.I put my nhs number in and it allowed me to book.

@DinosaurDiana @WombatChocolate

Just the NHS vaccination booking website. I'd looked 8 days ago just to see and was not eligible so I do wonder if it's part of them having expanded the CV/CEV list recently? Although haven't received any information on shielding.

I double checked it wasn't a GP surgery glitch as tried my husband (same age no health conditions) just to see and there was a massive 'you are not eligible' sign for him.

Quite - if there's one positive outcome of having GD, perhaps this is it!

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 20/02/2021 12:47

@WombatChocolate I don't know if there's a separate care/social worker booking website but this is the general one: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

ajandjjmum · 20/02/2021 12:48

I think you have to have taken oral steriods to book if you're asthmatic.

When ? This last winter, or ever ?
pintsizeprincess · 20/02/2021 20:04

I tried to book yesterday (tyoe 2 diabetes group 6)but wouldn't let me but I checked today and I was able to book for Monday . I haven't received a text or letter from my gp yet. I just tried the NHS booking system. It said cv had now been added.

I am definately in group 6 but tried to book yesterday and couldn't. Just tried again having read this but still no. I wish we could use it instead of having to wait to be contacted. I know I'm impatient. It doesn't say cv have been added on the web page I have though? It's all a bit random this group 6 stuff! Confused
pintsizeprincess · 20/02/2021 22:46

It does seem to be random at the moment. I saw on here that people could book from earlier in the week but it just let me today. Hopefully it will let you in the next day or so. Perhaps different areas are starting group 6 at different times.

Fruitbatdancer · 21/02/2021 01:05

I’ve tried a few times this last week as I have high BMI and had GD in pregnancy, (been wondering if will get fabled shielding letter but nothing yet?) it wouldn’t let me. Till I tried on off chance this morning (sat) and it let me but only at mass vaccination sites (30 min drive) same for my mum who’s 64 (no health issues) she tried Friday and it wouldn’t let her but sat morning she could also book. I guess the group 6 and the 60 to 65’s have been added from Saturday for my region (kent). Loads of slots, I’m guessing they’re trying to fill these centres as initially they had queues round block now nothing.
I did similar for my DH booked on national site (I’d been checking every day) he got his actual letter about 6 days after he could book on the national system.

@DinosaurDiana

I'm not sure, but DB has had three courses in the last 12 months.

WombatChocolate · 22/02/2021 12:56

Group 6, no shielding letter here.
I haven't been able to access national booking service, but just got invite to book via text with a link to a local booking service. It just gave me one location option (about 3 miles away) and appointments wee available from Weds.
Hope everyone else gets the text soon.

Good news, Wombat!

After reading this post I have tried 119 for my relative who has diabetes, has had a heart attack, high blood pressure, BMI of 39, sleep apnea and is being tested for COPD. Still can't book and doctor's surgery just says have to wait as they are doing Group 6 by age and he's 52. But I am also in Group 6 at the same doctor's surgery and I am 50 but they have invited me already! Its so frustrating - no problems waiting but to read on mumsnet so many healthy adults are now getting vaccinated but he can't get one before schools go back is so distressing.

Idontbelieveit12 · 24/02/2021 23:13

I keep trying to book my husbands as he has epilepsy but still saying not eligible

You may need to go via the surgery
bluelemming · 25/02/2021 13:01

In Cornwall the over 60's can now book via the NHS website.

pommedeterre · 25/02/2021 13:07

@ILookAtTheFloor

I've been checking multiple times a day for my mum, it's been 'you're not eligible' until today! She's 64. If it let's you definitely book it, it won't until it's your turn!
Happened to my 64 year old mum too!
ajandjjmum · 25/02/2021 16:22

You can book in the Midlands for 60+ on the website, but then they turn you away at the vaccination centre, if you haven't got a letter!

There seems to be some confusion between what the NHS website will allow and what the gatekeepers will allow.
