When do you think the WFH if possible advice will end?

I'm hoping late March/ early April. Do you think that's too optimistic?

Yes I’ve heard of a lot of cases like that @Starlive23 - and then lots that are the other extreme where no-one has has set foot near an office for nearly a year.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 18/02/2021 18:45

I get the impression London offices have been very WFH because of the dominance of commuting by public transport. If you’re driving out to a business park somewhere then it’s a bit different.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 18/02/2021 18:47

I hate working from home. Thought I'd enjoy It, but it's just so cripplingly lonely and my mental health has been ruined by it. I can't even bear to think it will go on all year.

Starlive23 · 18/02/2021 18:49

@bubbinsmakesthree totally agree, the company next door to us closed up to WFH March last year and nobody has seen them since! Same advice but so very different interpretations!

Invisimamma · 18/02/2021 18:53

We won't be back in the office until we're all vaccinated and seen as I'm in my 30s with no health conditions it'll be a while. Even then I think we'll still have the option to work from home if we want to. No plans to close the office as we've just signed a long lease early last year.

peak2021 · 18/02/2021 19:08

I hope wfh stays until at least all the nine groups have had their second vaccine. Perhaps even then not five days per week but enough to at least have some contact face to face with colleagues.

EasterIssland · 22/02/2021 20:56

Do you think things will change after today’s announcement and be requested to go back in summer ?

Onedropbeat · 22/02/2021 21:57

Yes I think so

CheeseJalapenoBread · 22/02/2021 22:01

On a regular basis, no earlier than the summer at my office. Suspect will be sooner for some employers.

blue25 · 22/02/2021 22:04

September here

Kljnmw3459 · 22/02/2021 22:08

Depends on the employer. We've been told we're wfh until July.

WhoStoleMyCheese · 22/02/2021 22:27

@Aria2015 do we work for the same company?? I miss people too :(

WhoStoleMyCheese · 22/02/2021 22:29

Also we have been told September at the earliest ... but my team will only have 1 day in the office at most

Dontmakemegoback2office · 22/02/2021 22:34

I can’t bear the thought of going back to the office.

having a chat about last nights telly, building working relationships, getting to hear about things as a result of conversation in a corridor.

Hate all that.

DamnYouAutoCatRectal · 22/02/2021 22:48

Our office has been converted so it can be used for the business which can't be done from home. I don't think that change will ever be undone, even though it was sold as temporary.

None of our team will really protest, as we all had long commutes which we're happy to give up, so no-one will really fight to return full time and there are enough other spaces for some occasional hot desking when we want to go in.

There are lots of bits I won't miss, but I'm also sad that our team have lost that part of our working lives forever. I don't think we'll ever sit side by side every day again.

Senabak · 22/02/2021 22:52

I work in FS and the service the large insurance companies have given with the odd exception has been absolutely shite so the sooner the better for me.

Exhausteddog · 22/02/2021 22:55

I am on furlough /flexi furlough because there isn't a lot I can do at home...and not enough work to warrant going to work. However I didn't realise how much I ask colleagues for advice/ideas/feedback until I was wfh Blush
At the moment my DC are at home, doing home schooling but I would hate to be wfh every day in the house on my own.

caringcarer · 22/02/2021 23:00

I think advice is if you can wfh keep doing do so they can open up rest of economy. End of June I think everything should be better.

Councilworker · 22/02/2021 23:03

My team was doing limited days in the office. We couldn't have more than 20 people in at a time compared to our usual capacity of 100 across the department so my team of 40 was down to about 6 per day. We've been told we are moving to a small site and will never go back to everyone being in the office every day. The plan is 3 days at home 2 in the office, it's probably about the right balance for me. Although I will have to possibly go in more often for meetings.
