Feeling poorly after Astra Zeneca

I had my first dose of Astra Zeneca vaccine yesterday (which was amazing!!) and then I started feeling unwell over night with very high temp, aches and pains and awful headache. I am still feeling very poorly today. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and how long it took to feel better?

Dh, ds and I had AZ on Friday. Dh has a slightly sore arm. Ds and I both had the going hot and cold thing and crashing headaches. We both slept for most of yesterday. I feel much better today, if a bit disinclined to do much. Ds hasn't surfaced yet.

My Mum (80) felt the same as I did after AZ.
DH is 60, I'm 55 and ds is 25.

My parents had it. My dad was cold and achy for about 24 hours. My mum was fine. Both mid 60s.

I had the Pfizer one and I've been absolutely fine no side effects at all.

Had mine on Tuesday evening, woke up in the night with a temperature and aching all over. Wed felt awful all day, Thursday not great but better, Friday pretty normal apart from a headache. Keep having bouts of hot sweats but my work mates had theirs 2 weeks before me said this should be over by next week. Glad I’ve had it despite the side effects

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair

Thank you *@trevthecat and @Icequeen01* logically I know that the vaccine is better than covid but I'm a single parent who doesn't do any high risk things and the possibility of being out of action from the vaccine seems higher than getting covid.

I'm not worried so much about feeling rough as not being able to work and look after my children.

I honestly think that even with the side effects I could have looked after children and worked if I had no option not to. The side effects were horrid but really not that bad and passed quickly. Perhaps even if you took paracetamol in advance you might be able to ease them greatly. PLEASE don't let it out you off having the jab.

I had mine yesterday morning and 6 hours later I started feeling shivery and not right. I didn't bother taking paracetamol, just went to bed early wrapped up in about 4 layers and blankets but a few hours later I was feeling awful, like proper flu and the chills had switched to hot sweats with nausea. My pulse went up to 130 for a few hours which was a horrible feeling and a bit disconcerting as I could feel my heart pounding. I've reported the tachycardia on the yellow card thing as it isn't listed in the side effects but I guess it could have been the fever (38.5). I don't have any issues like that usually, although it sometimes pounds with a bad hangover.

I eventually fell asleep and when I woke up this morning my pulse and temp had both come down and I just feel tired now with a slightly sore arm. I am wary of the second dose and will definitely have to be prepared next time, to take paracetamol as soon as I start to feel shivery and to make sure i'm not in work next day.

DS is having his on Tuesday so will see how he fares. We're both late 40s.

Update from this morning, I feel fine now! Sore arm still but fine. Even managing a glass of wine!

I had the AZ first vaccination yesterday. It was fine although by the early evening my joints and muscles were aching and I felt very fatigued. I slept pretty badly but feel as if I am recovering now. Hopefully tomorrow I will be good again
Don't be put off having the vaccination because of a few side effects. I am 67 years old and walked to the pharmacy and back without any problems ( 4.5 miles)
