Why have II been offered the vaccine?

I have just been offered the vaccine. I don't think I got into the groups that are being offered, although am prob higher risk than some due to my weight (bmi 41) however I know many people larger that haven't been offered it.

I did have a pulmonary embolism 6 years ago so I wondered if that would be why? However I've not heard that being mentioned on list of people eligible.

I don't want to ring to enquire (probably wrongly and selfishly) as they may rescind the offer if it was an error.

Any ideas

Your BMI is over 40 so that is why I think.

Egghead68 · 17/02/2021 12:38

Many threads on this. It’s probably your BMI. Just have it I reckon. Everyone’s getting it in the next few months anyhow.

DiamondBright · 17/02/2021 12:40

If you've been offered it by the NHS then you've met the criteria and should take it, making phone calls uses up resources that are already stretched.

rainbowunicorn · 17/02/2021 12:40

Does it actually matter why? If you have been offered it and want to be vaccinated then get it done. The whole adult population is going to be offered it in the next few months so just go and get it.

CavernousScream · 17/02/2021 12:41

Your BMI alone is enough. Everyone with a similar BMI will be offered the vaccine in the next few weeks, it just depends on how they’re working through the list. Go get vaccinated!

You're lucky?

Probably BMI, though.

floraspider · 17/02/2021 12:42

I think blood clots are on the list as is BMI over 40 so both of those would be criteria for group six.

billybagpuss · 17/02/2021 16:26

Both DH and I had our texts this morning, I’m group 9 (but high bmi, not quite 40) and DH group 8 but had prostate removed a year ago.

I did wonder whether our area is just particularly ahead. I’m not complaining it’s 2 months earlier than expected.
