AIBU how you get unpleasant thoughts out of your mind?

I have a problem whereby if anything bad happens to me doing the day, not majorly bad, just someone being unkind/narky with me during the day I will fixate on it for the rest of the day. I try to push it out of my mind but it keeps popping up. I would love to be the sort of person that can just instantly shrug things off and not give it another thought. How the hell do you do it? I'm feeling pretty low at the moment so it doesn't seem to take much for my fragile positive mood to disintegrate.

It sounds like anxiety to me OP, this is often how mine manifests. Have you looked into mindfulness? Apps like Headspace like can help enormously.

Distraction or exercise like a good walk helps me, or speak about it to a friend

Visualisation?

Imagine the bad thought as a cloud on a windy day... it’s there, it’s real, you can see it. And then you watch as it’s swept away, never to return in the same form.
