Why am I being offered COVID vaccine?

Just been offered the COVID vaccine. No idea why? I'm 48 with no underlying health conditions? I'm a frontline worker but only work in retail and as far as I'm aware retail staff aren't classed as priority. I did read online that in some areas that some surgery's are offering leftover supplies to healthy younger individuals so maybe that's one explanation. Can anyone shed any light on this, I'm confused?

Are you obese?

HandbagRummage · 15/02/2021 19:14

Don't question it. Go for it. I wouldn't tell anyone. I'd just book it. The sooner you are vaccinated, the better your family will be protected.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 15/02/2021 19:15

I've no idea but take it!

niknakpak · 15/02/2021 19:15

Is it for today? They wouldn't be offering be offering spares further in advance I don't think. If it is just go!

grapewine · 15/02/2021 19:21

Just go get it. I wouldn't question it tbh.

SummerHouse · 15/02/2021 19:24

Don't question the system! Just go get it.

Turnedouttoes · 15/02/2021 19:25

My friend got offered one way before she should have. Somehow she’d been mistakenly added to the shielding list

Inpersuitofhappiness · 15/02/2021 19:26

It doesn't matter, go! Don't walk! RUN!

Tiktokersmiracle · 15/02/2021 19:27

I would go, I'm desperate to have mine but being 39 the likelihood of me getting it before summer is nil
Run there love!!!

I am 41 and according to that vaccine queue website I am likely to get the first dose 25 May-5 June if that was a bit earlier than you were expecting? Sort of Spring ish?
pensivepigeon · 15/02/2021 19:54

They don't want to waste vaccines. So if people have not turned up or cancelled vaccines will be going spare.

A few of my friends have had this, I'm not sure, sounds like a glitch in the GP systems, but fuck it, if you can then why not book! They are all in their 30s, no health conditions, healthy weights, weirdly one her husband had an invite too; he also has no vulnerabilities at all.

polkadotpixie · 15/02/2021 20:04

Have you been treated as an in or outpatient of a hospital in the last 2 years? We're booking group 6 at work now and our list is generated from people who have been for a list of certain conditions

itsgettingwierd · 15/02/2021 20:13

Pfeizer needs to be used within 5 days. So they know leftovers in advance.

I'm 40 and no underlying conditions and had mine 2 weeks ago.

Education staff who got in a leftover clinic.

Yes as an outpatient for a colposcopy checkup last august.

I'm the same, OP. Wasn't expecting to get mine till summer, I'm only mid 40s and don't have any health conditions. However, I do work in a secondary school, and currently working with keyworker and vulnerable pupils, so I wonder if they contact schools or at least the local council for staff names?

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2021 21:18

Same! I'm 30 and been offered one Thursday.
I have a blue inhaler but my asthma is very mild. Bmi is 30.5. Mental health issues but nothing major.
On the cusp of a few reasons but I'd expected to wait until summer.

Wallabyone · 15/02/2021 21:52

I think in Some areas they are just getting through people quicker. In Enfield, I know of several people in their forties who have had theirs, for no reason. Yet, we are just next to them on the Herts border and my dad in his 60s hasn't been called yet.

AngryPrincess · 15/02/2021 22:06

They might have had some cancellations, and some people not answering their phone to an unknown number. Happened to someone I know in group 6 this week.
