Just in case anyone in Leicester is reading this and is over 65 or clinically vulnerable and wants to get vaccinated this week:

Health bosses in Leicester are urging people to fill up vacant vaccine slots due to low booking numbers.

Appointments are available to those aged over 65 and people who are clinically vulnerable as soon as tomorrow.

Low numbers have booked on today, tomorrow and later in the week at Leicester's mass vaccination site, The Peepul Centre.

While it's too late to make an appointment for today, there are slots ready to book for tomorrow and onwards.

A clinical commissioning groups spokesperson said: "People don't need to wait to be contacted by their GP and are free to make their own appointments via the national NHS website.

"We have had low take up today and for the rest of this week, perhaps because people are waiting to be invited. We'd encourage people to get online and make an appointment as soon as possible."

Those eligible can click here and follow the instructions.

Just shared on Facebook, I'm not eligible but some people I know are, thanks for sharing!

I live in Leicester and saw this. Clicked on to see how you actually book a slot. There were so many for all time slots for the next 5 days, it's quite concerning. If they don't get the numbers booking, vaccines are going to be wasted. Hopefully they'll start getting full/calling the next group

Thank you

I have tried that link but it is not letting the CV group 6 book.

caringcarer · 15/02/2021 18:57

Have looked as CV but it says only those over 65 can book online CV have to wait for their GP to contact them. Pity because DH and I both CV and could have come tomorrow. Hope no vaccine goes to waste.

@FebFrosting and @caringcarer

Hmm, that's a shame, might be worth a quick email to your MP to let them know?
Otherwise, maybe try again tomorrow and hopefully GPs will start contacting people soon too?

Seems a bit daft that eligible people cannot book a slot when there are plenty available.
I also hope none goes to waste..Confused

This is the ridiculous situation whereby all of Group 6 can only get invited directly by a GP - 7 million people!

That is logistically impossible and will indeed lead either to the mass hubs being underused or Group 6 still not being finished by the time Group 9 has been done.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency across the country in Group 6 either. Some GPs inviting as many as possible, others not even started and refusing to allow any one to question whether they should rightfully be in Group 6.

Given that report then I think it might be worth calling 119 if you are clinically vulnerable, they might not be able to book you but they might.
