I can’t stand when the journalists in turn smugly ask the same bloody questions, but make such a smug meal of it as though we haven’t just heard the same smug questions asked all bloody day since the first appearance by Matt Hancock or whoever on breakfast television.

Trying to be edgy by asking “Prime Minister are you and the cabinet going to resign after the way you’ve handled this?” As if he’s going to say “yes, it’s a fair cop, I’ll get me coat.”

Schools and lockdown release is next week.

I think this afternoon’s will be different. Yes a bit about the vaccination programme, but the big new policy announcement will be the universal return of the milkman

I made a new year resolution not to watch him any more. I just read the information afterwards. Better for my blood pressure.

I really don't know why they bother having a press conference at all, since so many MNetters already know what is going to be said.

He has already said today he hasn't finalised the plan for schools yet. And schools aren't expected back until 8th March earliest. His 22nd Feb date for roadmap gives him the two weeks he promised school. Today will just be the usual Monday update.

Surely it will just be to officially announce that they have met the vaccination targets so far and that we are a step closer to a less restrictive existance?

It is usually fairly easy to predict what they are going to say at these press conferences, judging from what has been on the news that day.

I doubt it is anything worth getting excited over.

Nah. It’ll be waffle waffle, 15 million vaccines yay, now we start phase 2, stick to the rules, too early to say what will happen with ending lock down, stay home, protect the NHS, save lives. Then it’ll be questions and two token members of the public will ask when they can hug their grandkids/parents/the milkman whatever. Boris will reply that it’s an incredibly important question and ignore it. Then all the journos will ask about schools/holidays/ pubs to which he’ll reply too early to say, and that’ll be that till Hancock’s half hour later in the week, which will be an almost word for word rerun of the above.

He has said that so many times, yet the press continue to waste time by asking the same questions over and over. They’re highly irritating.
