I went online and booked both my doses. If you are eligible it will let you book, but it might not be close to your home.

I had had the vaccination a whole week before my letter arrived.I drove 10 miles for it,which I was happy to do.

Text from the same number that I get appointment confirmations from, addressing me by name, giving the name of the practice, and a link to an NHS.uk website where I booked the appointment. The text said that if I didn't book one, they'd call me later.

Ths website knew the two centres nearest to me, to choose from.

My parents were informed by letter. I wonder if it varies by region

msbevvy · 15/02/2021 11:53

Text to book at GP hub.

Followed, over a week after I had the vaccine, by a letter to book at a pharmacy or a mass vaccine centre.

Then on Friday I received yet another text inviting me to book at St Thomas's in London.

I do wonder how it is recorded when you have had the vaccine and if the information is shared across different trusts.

unmumsymummy21 · 15/02/2021 11:57

Which vaccine are people having at GP hubs ?

unmumsymummy21 · 15/02/2021 12:01

OP to your question - I received a text from my GP.

BeyondMyWits · 15/02/2021 12:08

We had a text from surgery about 3 weeks ago telling us that we would get a text from x number in the next 6 weeks allowing us to book our appointment - then we got the text from surgery, with a link to book loads of slots on one of 3 days at our local, but central, vaccination centre.

@unmumsymummy21

Which vaccine are people having at GP hubs ?
Whichever has been delivered that day seems to be the answer. I was done last Thursday (AZ) the People on Weds and Friday at the same GP hub had Pfizer.

MIL got a letter, which is just as well as she steadfastly refuses to use a smartphone. I think my father got a phone call IIRC.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/02/2021 15:47

I got a letter from the NHS this morning, giving me an online address to go to book, went there and booked the earliest appointment I could which is on Thursday at a pharmacy on the far side of town from me.

A friend of mine (same town, same age) got a phone call from his GP last week telling him he could have his first inoculation the following day (at the town hall), went and had it, and got a letter the same as mine inviting him to book two days after that. He says he's expecting a text Real Soon Now.

DH got a text from the GP followed by a phone call half an hour later because they thought they had sent him two appointments by mistake and wanted to check if/when he was coming. The appointment was for the day after the text.

Blondeissimo · 16/02/2021 06:01

I got a notification today through the MyGP app from my GP surgery. No other form of contact so was glad I checked the notification.

It varies, some are getting a letter, some a GP phone call - getting around four days notice, if you can't make, you get pushed back into the queue.

I had a link through work and got mine within 24 hours -. dates were only been released a day at a time.
