Hi I'm getting the astrazeneca jab this afternoon but I'm absolutely terrified of the side effects. I have emetophobia and have read that one of the side effects can be nausea and vomiting. Has anyone had this jab and can reassure me that they weren't sick, all I seem to see is that people have been very sick after having this jab.

I know about 30 in my family and friends who had this jab including myself and none of us had any vomitting or nausea.

I had it last Friday. Saturday morning my arm was a tiny bit achy, Saturday afternoon I was completely exhausted and had a nap. That was it. No other side effects at all.

I’ve never heard of that side effect.
I know lots of people who have had it (NHS worker) and nobody mentioned that.
When I went to get mine done, they informed me of possible side effects and that was definitely not one of them.

My whole office has had it (200 plus) and I know 1 person who felt sick and know of no-one who actually vomitted.

Thank you, this is very reassuring.

I know loads of people who’ve had AZ & most had zero side effects. Some has a sore arm & headache/cold like symptoms. Zero nausea among them.

I’ve got emetephobia. I’d take anything they offered at this point. If it means a couple days of hell, ANYTHING to be able to live again 😫

Use the techniques you’ve hopefully learnt along the emetephobia path to manage your anxiety. Have you had CBT or any counselling etc? It’ll be OK, pretty much every drug & vaccine on the planet has nausea as a side effect but with most, it’s rare!

Hi OP I am also emetophobic and had the jab last week. I didn’t realise being sick was a side effect til after I’d had it!! I still would have had it anyway though I think. Anyway the leaflet says that more than 1 in 10 may feel sick and up to 1 in 10 may be sick. I’m only aware of one person on here who was sick and none in real life (and I know a fair few who have had it now). I didn’t feel sick at all just a bit fluey. The odds are very much in your favour so take deep breaths and get your jab x

Thank you! @MoirasRoses I did start with CBT and the person I was seeing went off on longterm sick unfortunately. Tried sorting out seeing someone else and then covid came. Will try to get back to seeing or speaking to someone as I can't cope with the panic anymore.
