Has the test given anyone a sore mouth?

I did a test yesterday, myself, and the side of my tonsil where I swabbed is red raw today. I didn't rub too hard , have had a few tests before and had some done for me so I feel I done it right.

I have been up all night with the pain from it. It's bright red.

Also, the result has come back "not clear".

Has this happened to anyone else? Worried I got a dodgy Swab!

Maybe you have tonsillitis rather than covid ?
I can't for one second imagine that a swab would do that to you, but if you have an already inflamed throat (you said it's bright red which sounds like inflammation/ throat infection) then yes swabbing it would hurt.
I'm no medic but I strongly feel it's nothing to do with the actual swab.

If it gets worse you may need to see your dr for antibiotics although these things do usually clear up themselves in time.

Thank you for your reply. It's really strange because I have had tonsillitis a few times and know the feeling/ look and I'm quite sure it's not that. Could be a throat infection though. Although I don't feel ill.. it's just a raw sore feeling. And it's exactly where I swabbed.

I have no tonsils so I couldn't comment there! But bright red, raw and inflamed is surely an infection - you just couldn't do that with a swab! I think you have unfortunately just hit a really sore spot with the swab.
Paracetamol and some honey and lemon. I hope it goes off soon! If you do another swab because it was inconclusive I'd look first and see if you can aim for a bit that isn't already sore!

Thank you 😊

Was it a lateral flow test? Only you got the result back super quick (even though it was inconclusive)...

My Covid presented first as sneezing and a really sore throat, felt like I had been stabbed in the tonsil!

@OpheliasCrayon it was a PCR test. I have done 5 over the last few months (different reasons not symptoms) and every time I have had results back in under 24 hours. I am in London

@SandysMam oh no! 😩

Oh wow that's so quick! Amazing. Well hopefully it will be just as quick ,(and less painful,!) If you do another
