As an unpaid carer I have my vaccine booked!! Yea! But I'm unexpectedly upset.
I will be having my vaccine before my CEV young teen is even being considered for vaccination. If he was 16 he would already
be vaccinated. This just feels so wrong.
In a piece of ridiculously unfortunate timing, I also had a call from the Doctors just after I had booked my appointment. About a month back the GP had agreed to write to the hospital consultants to ask if DS might be considered for vaccination under the some children in certain settings may be considered. I was expecting something like "we are not recommending any CEV children/DS be vaccinated currently." Or you need to talk to one of the other teams overseeing DS' care or it's only children in care home settings. All would have been a bit shitty for DS but understandable.
The response they've got is the Hospital is not vaccinating the general public. When I asked what that actually meant as we weren't asking the hospital to carry out the vaccination and DS is not really just the general public as 3 years older he would already be vaccinated, the surgery couldn't really tell me and it didnt even seem as if they'd addressed DS issues or possibly even read the GP letter at all, so the whole matter has been thrown back at the GP to sort.
Everytime I watch the news I think maybe they might just mention gov plans regarding children and vaccinations especially CEV kids. But nothing, it's a radio silence.
Meanwhile they are pushing for the return of schools but what happens to kids like DD? if the schools do return theres an almighty decision to make. She's desperate not to bring it home to DS, but It's highly likely the online provision will dwindle to nothing and I may have to deregister her under threat of fines.
Of course I will go and be vaccinated, It just all seems a bit back to front atm.
