Self employed care worker and refused a vaccine

I am a self employed care worker, working as a support worker in metal health, currently working with someone that is unable to tolerate me wearing PPE and they are on tue vulnerable list.

I called my gp to ask about getting a covid test and was told "we are not vaccinating self employed carers" i was advised to try a mass vaccination site (there isn't one in my area).

So as a self employed carer I do exactly what someone from a agency would do except I am not wearing PPE, but im not entitled to a vaccine.

I have 2 disabled children at home (I only work part time) and am a single parent. If anything happened to me the dc would have no one. Im seriously considering stopping work as without the vaccine I have no protection.

If you have disabled children you should be marked as a carer in the GP system meaning you will get it in group 6.

Some surgeries will include unpaid carers who have the carer box ticked on their system in the group 6 jab round.

However, I would speak to them. Our surgery have announced that being listed as 'carer' on their system will not suffice. They now want to see proof - either by getting carers allowance or if you don't get, you need to bring in other evidence.

I am a paid carer (I care for someone else other than my dc).

@NewSummer Please could you post the link for that NHS source? I can’t find it on their website

I’m in a similar situation and struggling to find out how I can book with my local vaccine hub. Glad you’ve got it sorted OP.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

Click on Book my appointments.

Enter either your NHS number or your name, sex, DOB and postcode.

It then comes up with that page asking if you’re a frontline worker Smile

Try this, it's says they're accepting people who do paid care.

How did it go OP? We have been asked to provide a letter for a carer who looks after a family member and I'm not sure exactly what I need to write on it. Just that they are paid and our contact details?
