No, because they currently only send a small %age (around 5-10%) of tests off for the additional testing to determine the variant. And I don't think they then come back and tell you (though I could be wrong).

Thank you. I am in one of the postcodes that had mass testing and were looking for South African variant, so I wondered if i could get specific answers.

In the postcode areas, all tests will be sequenced, so they will know how much of the SA variant is around. But I still don't think they are going to tell you. Why do you need to know?

DH and I both came down with it after Christmas. It went through the care home where he works like a dose of salts despite them having all the correct procedures in place. We speculate that it was the Kent variant because it was just so infectious - but we don't know for sure, and at the end, what difference does it make?

My self and DP were tested on Thursday specifically for the South African variant because we live in the postcode it was spreading in. And then the following day myself and my 1 year old son were tested as he was due in hospital today. All tests were negative except for DS. Which has really shocked me as I haven't seen anyone this year. All shopping is delivered and cleaned.

I know it really doesn't matter what variant it is, but I have been really anxious about COVID ever since is first came about, and I would really like to know.
