Pfizer Vaccine on 31st Dec - just tested positive for COVID

My DS is in the CEV group and works for the NHS so was given the Pfizer vaccine in December, he is waiting for his second dose, he called me today to tell me him and his GF have just tested positive. His GF had her vaccine a week ago and is an Occupational Therapist and works with patients in their homes.

My DS said he has a sore throat and feels tired but his GF has also lost her sense of taste and feels much worse. I was just suprised that a month after the 1st does he wasnt protected from catching it.

He isnt worried though as assumes he will only get it mild as have some protection from the vaccine.

@starfish4

My Auntie and BIL had their vaccines two days apart. My Uncle wasn't well enough at the time. Both him and my Auntie caught it household mixing at Xmas - he was far worse, three weeks in hospital and now being rehabilitated in care home. My BIL struggled with his breathing a bit as he's asthmatic, but his wife and 23 year old DD were far worse - all feeling better but his wife needs an x-ray as she has ongoing chest pain. So in both of these cases the ones who were vaccinated caught it (admittedly within 21 days) but weren't as bad as other family members.

Hope your family are ok.

Thank you, he has just messaged me to stop worrying about him and that he is feeling OK. It doesnt matter how old your children are, you never stop worrying do you? (my DS is 28 :) )

Update on the Pharmacy situation, I have ordered him more inhalers to be delivered directly to his home address from Superdrug.

I can completely understand his reluctance to contact the pharmacy, he basically told me that it was run by a rude old woman, which I at first thought he was being ridiculous but after reading the reviews (see below and also on the website link below I can sort of understand why!) - Not everyone is a nice helpful person I suppose :) anyway all sorted now and thanks for the advice. Both my DS and his GF are recovering nicely too

So even after vaccine we have to isolate if positive test? So we are still contagious?

Jenasaurus · 12/02/2021 14:08

I guess so, my DS was told to isolate, yes

@Chloemol

The vaccine, even after the second one, doesn’t stop you getting covid, you just get it milder so hopefully no hospital, and doesn’t stop you spreading it

That’s been very clearly said on numerous occasions at press conference's

They have said they don't know if it stops you spreading it

@Jenasaurus those reviews are unreal! If that’s where he usually goes he should report

Examples of things you might want to report to the GPhC include: Serious unprofessional or inappropriate behaviour
Glad you managed to sort out delivery, I hope they both recover quickly.

Yes I know, I thought he was exagerating and just wanted me to sort it out for him when he said she was an awful old woman...then I read the reviews and thought WOW. It does make me wonder how people like that still keep their jobs.

Quite possibly the rudest pharmacist I’ve ever been to! The woman spent more time talking on the phone about her house extension than serving the customers queuing in the shop. And she charges for using your card. Who does that these days! I wish I had given my money to another pharmacy. Doesn’t deserve even 1 star!

This is probably the worst customer service (if you can call it that) I have ever received! I went in to this pharmacy as I was with one of the residents that I support at a nearby Care home and I was shouted at and belittled by this rude, little, elderly woman. All I did is politely ask for some advice on filling out the prescription form. If she wasn't sure she could have let me know with the same respectful tone that I gave her, but instead she decided to shout and tell me to "hurry up and fill in the form", that I "should know where I need to tick" and "do you expect me to teach you how to read English!"...Please keep in mind that this berating was all done in front of a vulnerable person with visible physical and learning disabilities and she caused my client to become agitated; I was flabbergasted, disgusted and very upset! She has no consideration for her customers at all and as a result should be shut down immediately. I can't believe someone like this gets to keep a pharmacy open all the while mistreating people to such an extent that they are forced to write bad reviews. By the way, this is the first bad review I've ever written, but it seems so necessary

The woman is crazy, literally crazy.

I was told I look unemployed and homeless, would not let me speak and held me to ransom for time. I have never experienced anything like what I just had to deal with in a shop.

The licence needs to be taken away from this establishment

If your son agrees the employee is rude etc and can make a personal complaint to the address above please encourage him to, if all sounds very odd. If he doesn’t want to use that pharmacy the online ones are good, gets posted straight to you

Looks likely my DD has it now. She works in a nursery and all but one of her colleagues have just tested positive. The one that didnt had been vaccinated. I never understood why nurseries were treated differently to schools to be honest. Now they are facing a barrage of emails from parents concerned about their children. How could they not know the risk, I mean the staff didnt have a choice but the parents did.

What do you mean by nurseries being treated differently to schools?

Nurserys were kept open and schools were closed

Schools are open, not to all but they are definitely still open.
