I've just had my first vaccine

I'm so thrilled. I almost can't contain my excitement. I have underlying health issues but I'm 35. I'm in an area which is doing well with the vaccine roll out. I was on the list for left over doses. It's very snowy today so I think people haven't turned up. So as they're using Oxford vaccine if it doesn't get used it gets thrown out.

It feels like a miracle of science that this virus developed a year ago and I know have vaccine in my body. I know it's not a miracle and it's the hard work of so many people. I just feel so emotional and greatful.

Congratulations, that's great news.

Thanks! I'm unbelievable happy. But also just feel in awe of the creation of this vaccine.

I read someone else had said they were on a short notice list, how do you get onto this list please?

Oh, and congratulations!

I think it's very local. My GP practice put me on it. Well asked if I wanted to go on it! Obviously I said yes! It was a few weeks ago I got put on. I do have health issues and I'm eligible for a flu jab. My GP practice is involved in the vaccine delivery at a local centre. I'm not sure how other vaccination centres work. So I think it does depend as the more local it is the more they can pick their patients who need it to go on the waiting list. Hth

I'm feeling fine this morning. Slightly achey arm but other wise fine. Just in case anyone reads this and wondered about side effects.

I had a slightly restless night but honestly I think that's just because I was so buzzing to have had the vaccine!

I understand how you feel. i will feel the same when I finally get it, or when DH gets it. Hope you continue to feel well. It is truly a miracle of science, even if that sounds corny

I really feel like it is a a scientific wonder. But then I was saying to my partner about being very happy to live in times of modern medicine and realised actually I'd probably be disabled if I'd been born a while ago. As I had hip displasia. Really science is beautiful.

I had mine on Saturday , I had been previously but due to having a positive covid test too early in the
Month I couldn’t have the vaccine on that day until Saturday . On both days I was the youngest person in the place getting the jab ! I’m 37 and classed as extremely vulnerable . It was quick and easy on the day and I had no side effects at all ...

We are 2 people against the fight and we have played our part on the way to getting the uk back to normal !

Exciting!!

I was hoping to be on a list as seem to have been moved from Gp 4 to group 6 and nobody knows why but will not put me back in group 4. As a teacher in school now am group 6 every day was hoping I might be on a list. Sadly not an option. Great to see other areas are thinking about people.
