If your small child has had covid, what were the symptoms?

DS self-isolating as there was a case at nursery. He was in contact with the child one week ago and hasn’t been anywhere since Wednesday when we got the call.

This morning he fell asleep on the sofa about an hour after getting up (after 12 hours sleep) and then vomited all over himself and DH several times. He’s got a temperature and is now just lying in bed feeling sorry for himself/snoozing. Obviously test has been booked!

Anyone experienced similar?

If contact was a week ago, then you wouldn’t think it would be covid, but you never know. Vomiting and temperature is symptoms, so it’s best to do as you are doing and getting a test.

He’s been a bit emotional for a few days but no specific symptoms. It’s really hard as he is likely asthmatic (they won’t diagnose at this age) and coughs a lot anyway! So no NEW cough but his steroids don’t seem to be working as well as usual.

My Ds 8 had a mysterious bout of sickness around a week ago. Out of nowhere, lasted 24/48hrs, only a couple of small vomiting episodes on day 1. He has asthma too, didn’t notice an increase in cough, which like your son is fairly standard. Tested because he reached 38, negative thank god!

Hope your little one has a rapid recovery!

DS1 (age 8 at the time) - a bit grumpy and irritable.

DS2 (age 6 at the time) - temp of over 40 for two days and no other symptoms except...

Both had a viral red rash on torso.

DD3 - no illness. Irritable. Tired.

DD9 months - extremely heavy cold, a minor fever for a short time. Rash but she has commonly got one when catching big sis’s germs from nursery.

DD’s friend had nothing but a continuous headache. Mum got him tested and he was positive.

DD 6 Had a rash on her chest, back and stomach. Random on and off ear pain and quite hyper. I am still suffering with Covid insomnia and she also seems to be struggling to get to sleep.

Oh my goodness he’s SO hyper! And not sleeping very well. Usually sleeps 6-7. Slept 7.15-5.30 last night. Lots of coughing. Occasional temperature. No more vomiting. Just not himself.

My son is five, he had a slight cough and a temperature, it didn’t even last 24 hours.

My 2 year old had a temperature that lasted 8 hours and a bit of a runny nose. My 7 year old had a temperature lasting 2 days and a slight cough. They were both running up and down the house and you couldn't even tell they had it. They did both sleep well which helped me recover.
