She is in her home. Doctor said not long left and that family should see her. I am 200 miles away.

Go now, this is not something that can ever be undone.

Yes, you can visit for compassionate reasons.

Yes, assuming you’re in England. If you find the Government guidance on gov.uk, one of the reasons given for leaving home is “compassionate visits”.

Thank you for the fast replies.

I’m really sorry you’re in this situation.

Such a visit is certainly lawful. See schedule 3A(2)(9) of The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (All Tiers) (England) Regulations 2020 which provides an exemption to lock down for any person “P” if “it is reasonably necessary for P to leave or be outside P’s home to visit a person (“D”) whom P reasonably believes is dying, and P is—
(a)a member of D’s household,

(b)a close family member of D, or

(c)a friend of D”

So sorry to hear this. Yes, absolutely do. I feel so sad that people have been made to even feel like they need to question themselves over things such as this. This is actually what life is about. Thinking of you and your relative.

StrangerHereMyself · 03/02/2021 16:49

Yes that is legally allowed in England although you should consider whether it’s safe or advisable in your individual circumstances (eg do you need to use public transport, are you or a household member vulnerable).

AuntyClementine · 03/02/2021 16:51

Yes, I’d go, now.

Ceara · 03/02/2021 16:54

Yes - in the list of reasonable excuses to leave home within the lockdown Regs, it's exception 6 - death bed visits. You can visit a family member or friend who you reasonably believe to be dying.

I'm sorry. I hope you get there in time and that the end is peaceful.

Yes

murbblurb · 03/02/2021 17:12

I'm so sorry. Yes. And you can also stay in a hotel which you will need for that distance.
