I’m just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and to make people aware.

On Monday I suddenly felt like I was coming down with something (headache, achey and sore throat) temp of 38.1. I went for a covid test that morning.

That day I got progressively more ill and flu like and could hardly move from the pain in my body.

Tuesday I was still very ill and temperature reached 39.5. I also couldn’t swallow for pain. Partner and children are at home isolating while we await test. Covid test result comes back negative.

Wednesday I’m still feverish with painful muscles and joints and my tonsils are now swollen across my throat and covered in white patches. GP over the phone and from photos diagnosed tonsillitis and I start on antibiotics. Partner has returned to work but children stay at home. My pensior age mother comes over to look after me and my toddler daughter as I’m so ill.

Thursday slightly better and can walk about. Develop a slight cough. Have horrible hot and cold sweats all day.

Friday I wake up and I’m still unwell and feel like I have a chest infection starting. Concerned that I need to go back to work on Monday (Key Worker) I book another covid test just to be sure.

Today I received the 2nd result which is positive!

Had I not been so poorly I would have gone back to work after the negative test on Tuesday and would have sent my children to school and nursery. My partner returned to work as I’d had a negative result and I’ve put my mother at risk who is now also having to isolate.

Yep. I know someone who had two negative tests and finally a positive one 5/6 days after the first symptoms.

Really, I wonder why this is. Not a lot anyone can do about it but concerning if people are having negative tests and thinking they are safe when I reality they actually have covid Sad

Yes I thought the same. I read something about new variants leading to false negatives. It was on the FDA website but I'm not sure if it's the same sort of thing.
