Parents of ECV children?

I don't have one myself but does anyone know if the parents of an ECV child will be vaccinated as part of any priority group ?

Unpaid carers are in group 6 and this would usually cover one parent of the child. I know at one point it was said it would be the whole family (adults) but I don't think this is the case now.

My son is ECV but as he is only 14, isn't being considered for the vaccine. But as his full time carer, I can be put into group 6.

Well what would be the point of vaccinating one parent ? Surely all family need doing ?
I have 2 children with complex needs so hopefully dh and I will both be vaccinated in cat 6 . One child each !

@flapjackfairy they vaccinate one parent so the child’s carer is not unwell with Covid and unable to care for the child. It’s not to prevent the child contracting Covid from a parent as the vaccines may not prevent transmission.

@UrgentExitRequiredFella have you spoke to your child’s consultant? ECV children can now be vaccinated off label.

Yes I can see the point you are making but kids who need 24 /7 care often need the input of 2 parents. If one of us gets ill the other one would have to be awake practically all day and all night which is unsustainable for any length of time . In our case the last man standing would have to care for 2 children round the clock .

Ds requires 2:1 care but I have been told it is the main carer only. I will push for it to be dh because I am more easily replaceable in the short term whereas if dh became ill ds couldn't safely stay at home and would have to go residential and as a contact of someone with covid.
