Conflicting info re effectiveness of 1st dose and the timescale

I am probably reading too much on this but reports seem to range
from only 40 to 60 percent efficacy after 1st dose.
I suspect the truth is that the govt is trying to get as many people
assured of actually getting the vaccine for their political advantage.
The optimism somehow seems to have slightly tailed off re the efficacy and they are going to have problems delivering the 2nd dose

50% efficacy is better than 0% efficacy which we have without the vaccine.
