My posh rich friend and his wife are currently on holiday in Florida. Yes I'm mad.

This whole "controlling the virus" "stopping the spreads" is only for us ordinary people. If you are rich the rules don't apply to you!!!

Yep

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 27/01/2021 20:48

I’m not a pleb and I’m not travelling. Does that help?

ComDummings · 27/01/2021 20:48

The properly rich live in a different world, they always have

Back in August there was a wedding just outside of my (rural) village. The guests included Lords and Viscounts. They had a sit down meal of 200 people. The police couldn't do anything and our MP said (when a neighbour wrote to him about it) that it was fine as they were social distancing. I may be wrong, but I don't think a group of 200 people was ever allowed was it?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/01/2021 20:53

Did anyone see that woman on This Morning saying social media influencers are key workers? Just call yourself an influencer and you can go anywhere you like apparently.

AndcalloffChristmas · 27/01/2021 22:34

I must be a bit thick as I assumed you couldn’t even get on a flight!

How did they physically manage to do it, do you know OP?

user194729573 · 27/01/2021 22:37

You know if you're rich enough you can basically buy your way past the UK's immigration/visa requirements?

SquishySquirmy · 27/01/2021 22:39

The very rich can charter a flight! AndcalloffChristmas

YogaLite · 27/01/2021 22:43

I expect it was for some remote "business" reason. My understanding is that most work is allowed and not just for keyworkers. That's why is not as quiet as it was in lockdown1.

Plus, for the well off, the fine is peanuts anyway and for business travel is either allowed or treated as a business expense.

Doesn't seem fair but hey, life never is Hmm

Yohoheaveho · 27/01/2021 22:46

So have you told them what you think of them Opie?

Downriver · 27/01/2021 22:51

Of course, ever was it so. But especially galling now. That celebrity agent fighting for his life in Cancun was on a business trip, you know. Bet it was essential business.

Downriver · 27/01/2021 22:53

Oh yes and shame his business did not stretch to proper insurance.

In the same vein though, there was a funeral in the Manchester area with 200 people during the first lockdown. Police wouldn't dare break it up, at least until a firearm was spotted.
Embra · 27/01/2021 23:31

Why do you get angry with people who don’t comply with stupid rules? Why don’t you get angry with government of basically taking freedom of move around or live normal live. ?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/01/2021 23:34

I’m less mad with thicko selfish influencers than I am with the sanctimonious Beckenham clan. Clapping for the nhs from their second home before hop skipping it over to Miami ...they can piss off!

BritinDelco · 27/01/2021 23:43

How does that work OP? Noone from Europe/UK allowed into the US without 15 days in a 3rd country!

Heyahun · 28/01/2021 00:03

Yeah you can totally travel if you went - my husband had to travel back to Ireland recently (his mum had a bad fall) and there was nobody else to take her home from hospital / look after her til she was well) this is allowed I believe as it’s an emergency - however he wasn’t asked a single question by anyone at any stage of the trip - nobody cared about his reason for travel 😂 so I guess your trip doesn’t need to be essential at all

do you think they don't realise how out of order they are🤔 How can there be so lacking in insight and self awareness😳
Chanandlerbong01 · 28/01/2021 00:10

@Waxonwaxoff0 I don’t think she got what she wanted from that interview- she now has less followers than yesterday and now her accounts private!
