What to do as a family to escape lockdown boredom!

We started lockdown movie nights in the first lockdown, and have kept it going so each Sunday we take it in turns to pick a movie and snuggle up on sofas with hot chocolate and popcorn.

We then introduced ‘board game saturday’ which is self explanatory Smile

DD2 has now come up with ‘Chooseday Tuesday’ as an addition, in which we each pick an activity to do on Tuesday evenings - rules being no screens allowed, and only for 1 hour as DD has lots of school work to get through.

Has any other families started new traditions during lockdown, or has anyone any idea what I can select for my Tuesdays? I’m thinking of sketching a still life for my first week, I think DDs would enjoy Smile

Walking Wednesday (self explanatory)

Throwback Thursday (an activity to do with your dc that you enjoyed as a child)

Or
Arty Crafty day
Or
Beetle drive (the game with a dice, and piece of paper and pen each and you draw a beetle dependant on which number you throw).
Or
Bingo

Not a weekly event but we occasionally do a casino night (which is really just a card night where we play a few different card games, but DS seems to want to make it sound more glamorous by calling it a casino night!). It's usually accompanied by junk food like burgers, pizza, loaded fries etc, which is why it isn't a weekly event!

Online games night with friends every Friday - we play jackbox and everyone uses their own devices to play and we have one main screen per house for a zoom call to chat as we play and see the main screen. We've had a lot of fun doing these games!

We also do a lot of silly stuff to keep occupied but this isn't scheduled. Last night we were up till midnight playing music and singing and dancing with the teens - introduced them to soon classics like Ice Ice Baby and Jump by Kris Kross 😁

Ds and i had a 30 min game of tea towel throw and catch the other day. Simple things in lockdown!

I love Throwback Thursday, both DDs often tease me for my love of the 80s so I could have so much fun with that Grin

We already do Walking Wednesday as DD2 has PE on her timetable so we head to the rec for a walk.

I also love the idea of the occasional casino night and online games, many thanks for all your suggestions. DD1 has ASD so likes a timetable and routine (even more so at the moment) but I’ll try and sneak a couple in Smile
