Found out I had covid from my GP

I had exposure over Christmas to someone who tested positive the next day. (Sat with for 5 hours as in the same bubble, no social distancing). I ordered a test even though I didnt have the 3 main symptoms.

I had a blocked nose, diarreah, back pain and fatigue though. I was sleeping 12-18 hrs a day.

On Jan 1st the test came back inconclusive via an email, but I also got a 3 different nhs covid emails and it all seemed unorganised. So I was annoyed and just isolated for the full extra 10 days from symptoms starting just in case it qas covid. (I was already isolating for 5 days before the stated symptoms so I wont have had any contacts that needed to isolate except my daughter)

Today I called my gp saying I qas tierd and down and have been feeling really unproductive and she told me that its because I had covid. And I was just shocked.

Like wtf? Why were there 2 different results? Why are there still issues with testing after nearly one year?

Has anyone had anything similar happen?

Did the GP know your test result was inconclusive or does she have medical information that you don’t.

What did the GP say, what was the explanation?

I'm not sure how your gp would know, were they unofficially diagnosing you rather than telling you that your test was positive?
When booking tests I've not had to put in any gp details so don't think they'd know who my GP was.

I have had two tests (both negative) and they are listed on my GP records despite not entering in my GP information anywhere that I can remember when I booked the test (I can view a summary of my GP records online).

They don't need your gp details, your name, address and DOB are plenty. I agree though. It's shambolic. I still don't have my test results from end of November, I had classic symptoms plus lots of strange ones that many are reporting. Obviously I isolated but had it been positive there would have been countless people needing to isolate including 2 entire school classes plus staff.

@AvoidingRealHumans my Covid results were updated with my GP even though I had no communication with them . I was a bit surprised .
