How much outdoors is enough for our kids these days?

I am thinking of trying a forest school for my DD as its cold outside.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but have a read of the 1000 hours outside website. That is what we aim for.

Forest school is wonderful, my daughter absolutely loves it, but not sure what it being cold outside has to do with anything? They attend all year round surely?

We also try to do 1000 hours outside. But the great majority of the 1000 hours is built up over late spring/summer/early autumn. I'd say he probably gets an hour outside daily at the minute.

We were outside for 4.5 hours today, kids 5-10. Cold but nice in the sunshine which we had lots of for a change. I feel the cold but you have to layer up ski gloves, didrikson coat, neoprene boots, hat, scarf and I'm toasty in horrid conditions

It doesn't mean much with out an idea of where you are or how cold it is. We've got deep snow here today and it's been about 1/0 degrees, so with the right clothes on my 2 and 4 year old have been outside for most of the day.

With the right kit they can handle pretty much any weather

DS is at a forest school nursery. Outdoors 4 hours p/d minimum (sometimes they’re out all 8 hours) 4 days p/w.

At weekends we do a long walk/ park visit/ woodland day on Saturdays and Sundays- usually 2-4 hours, unless the weather is truly atrocious.

So.... 20-40 hours p/w, weather dependent?

Sorry that’s winter. Summer I basically move us outside, except for bed (and he’s been asking to sleep outside for 2 years as it is...)
