If you were offered the vaccine would you take it if you were breastfeeding? My little one is only 4 weeks old

I'd ask my GP.
But unless you're CEV you're not likely to get your vaccine for a good few weeks/months yet, so you have plenty of time to get answers from professionals.

No. I'm waiting until stopping breastfeeding, but I'm very low risk.

OhDearShirley · 22/01/2021 17:24

Had it a few weeks ago (frontline nhs)
I'm breastfeeding my 1 year old. No adverse effects for either of us. No one has really proposed a mechanism to explain how it could be harmful to the baby. It's extremely unlikely to get into your milk.

I am a healthcare worker and I had the Pfizer vaccine yesterday, I am breastfeeding my five month old. I felt that this would be less risky than if my daughter actually caught covid.

I’m getting it on Sunday, breastfeeding an 18 month old. No worries about it at all :)

I was going to ask this exact same question, I spoke to a couple of friends who are Dr's and it helped my thought process. I'm going to wait a couple of months I think to see if any studies come out regarding breastfeeding. It's a really hard one as I know if I have it I'm likely to worry after and at the moment my risk is quite low but if I start having a lot of patient contact that will change.
