Cards on table,I know logically, and from the utilitrian stance, this makes sense. But emotionally, as a southern born, naturalized Northerner in group four, I just doubt this would be happening if it was the other way round with the north trailing and the South being well organized.

The wider point is that between the treatment of Liverpool, Hull ,even Leicester (yes Midlands, but north of The Wash) I feel the emotional perceptions have been horribly reinforced in the last year.

I feel the same.

I’m a southerner, but moved to Yorkshire 6 years ago, I think it’s great that we’re being efficient up and getting people vaccinated quickly, I don’t understand why we are being penalised for it?

Againstmachine · 21/01/2021 18:03

Punished for doing what's asked of you, if they are doing it that quick then let them keep doing it this quick.

So many people seem to have massive chips on their shoulders.Hmm

FourTeaFallOut · 21/01/2021 18:10

Oh, fucking great, we have the highest number of the extremely clinically vulnerable here.

I can see it causing problems if the providers have got all geared up to provide the vaccines at a certain rate and now have half the supply.

I hope it's not going to cause problems in a few weeks when the first cohorts are (over)due for their second jabs.

Phymp · 21/01/2021 19:03

I live in that area and am in group 4 and haven't heard anything.
Friends in London in the same group have been called up for vaccine which puzzles me as this article suggests London is further behind 🤔.

It's not a chip on shoulders:I've already admitted I know my emotion is effecting my judgement, but I think there is enough evidence to at least make the argument the North does not get the same treatment as London in the last year.

Well done Yorkshire for being so efficient. Bet the Tories are seething that the north might be better protected than the south at the mo 🤣 knobs.

TiredAndBonkers · 21/01/2021 19:19

I don't understand the justification for this. It's not as if these areas have had more vaccine and need to share it around or something.
They are literally just slowing down people being vaccinated so it's even across the country. It won't speed up vaccinations in the South.

bellagogosdead · 21/01/2021 19:29

The logic is to prioritise the most vulnerable. Obviously.

Yes, as said to you previously, logically it can make sense, and if the daily vaccine numbers keep increasing like they currently are, then it may be ok: but it can give the impression that the government don't want "a postcode lottery"... Unlike when northern numbers were worse back in the Autumn when it was all about "regional responses to their local needs"🤔
