Just, does anyone know of any early years staff who’ve had their first dose?

We are not priority

Frazzledmum55 · 21/01/2021 00:26

Highly unlikely

mummy203 · 21/01/2021 00:43

Yes, while it’s not safe to leave the house or see family, being sneezed on, coughed at by toddlers from Multiple households doesn’t count as priority 🙄

I’m checking to news regularly for updates Cambridge and Peterborough has vaccinated some early years staff. I hope it changes soon to early years staff 🤞🏻

I hope it changes too. I'm a nanny working for several families and whilst I'm happy to carry on working, I don't feel 100% safe if I'm honest. But I've got bills to pay. It just feels like so much mixing, especially as some of my kids are also at nurseries. I hope I am offered soon, as I can't physically work from home.

redsky21 · 21/01/2021 06:15

I am in Cambridge and have registered for a vaccine, not heard anything yet. You have to reregister each week if you haven't been offered a slot.

Hapixmas · 21/01/2021 06:26

@redsky21 is this just Cambridge? I would love to be offered it.

redsky21 · 21/01/2021 06:30

@Hapixmas Cambridge and Peterborough. However have just read that the decision has been reversed after intervention from the government and NHS!

insancerre · 21/01/2021 06:36

My gp surgery asked what I do and when I said nursery she said she would put me on their priority list
Don’t know if it actually means anything
I don’t know any staff that have been vaccinated

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 21/01/2021 06:36

Agree! I’m a childminder and looking after children of a nurse, police officer and a teacher (amongst others) and feel incredibly disregarded. I am higher risk due to being very overweight (so my own fault) but i don’t worry too much about the virus on a daily basis. I do however think as a sector we have been forgotten.

yawnsvillex · 21/01/2021 06:37

Not even the Met Police are a priority so good luck!

Hapixmas · 21/01/2021 06:42

@yawnsvillex I don't think it is necessarily us saying we want this and stuff the others. I think people who can't work from home should be prioritised though. I feel at risk every day and it isn't fair. I'm not overly worried for me but I live (in shared accommodation) with older people and I worry about bringing something back. Our jobs don't allow social distancing, I'm changing nappies, wiping snot, being coughed on, kissed and just generally very close.

Nursery worker at pick up last night had had their first dose this week. It is a hospital nursery though so I think they are hospital employees.

Christmaspuddingsteaminghot · 21/01/2021 06:44

In the midlands

Remmy123 · 21/01/2021 07:28

My nursery said they will be soon!!

SmidgenofaPigeon · 21/01/2021 08:15

No, I’ve worked as a nanny throughout but was fully prepared to be way way down on the list. Now I’m pregnant so I don’t think I’ll be getting it at all- don’t think pregnant women can have it yet as not enough research in effects etc.
