Positive cannabis smoker?

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 20/01/2021 18:52

Just a quick question. I am talking to a relative, she has had to isolate as 2 people in her household have covid. She smokes cannabis. She had a test at the end of isolation period, she is negative. We were discussing if cannabis smokers are less ill or have been around positive people but not caught it.

I am not a smoker. But anybody who I know who does smoke weed hasn't caught Covid.

This has lead us to chat about if weed could prevent it. I will not start smoking. My relative just said it actually wants to make her do some research. So I am asking. If you smoke cannabis have you had Covid? Or were you negative after your household caught it?

I dont think ppl are going to admit they use Cannabis on an open forum.

Personally i cant imagine that cannabis has any preventatice effects. And to be honest research is pointless as who is going to recommend ppl should smoke it ??

Presume science he smokes tobacco? As nicotine affects acute respiratory distress syndrome

So this isn't a real research, believe me neither of us are clever enough for that or have the time.
But its just something she pointed out, it made me think. (I am not pro cannabis in the slightest as it played a part in wrecking mine and DDs life)
But any cannabis smoker I know who are having to go out have not got it when others around them have. The same as my relative.

Well they usually smoke tobacco with it and some research shows nicotine as being some kind of protective agent against Covid.

Potentially. They haven't done the research yet but what they do know about the anti inflammatory effects of cannabis point towards a potential use in treating covid.

Nope

Matilda1981 · 20/01/2021 21:19

I’m sure there is some science behind nicotine helping to prevent Covid - I can’t remember why tho!

Is there anything cannabis doesn't cure according to potheads

This is true! I am not a pothead though. I am genuinely interested in this. I usually roll my eyes when a stoner tells me the benefits of weed. When they say it is natural and not man made and is health benefits I switch off. But this has intrigued me. I told my relative I would post as she is more interested than I am.
