Do people with Covid have a smell?

My ex (in a support bubble) tested positive a week ago, before his cough started I noticed that his breath had a bad smell. I only thought about it this morning when I noticed that one of my children smelt a bit odd (a bit pooey tbh). I am wondering if this is an early sign that they have been infected. Anyone else noticed this?

They did train covid sniffer dogs, so I think yes. Haven't heard this though - are you generally sensitive to smell?

It's not just covid - I could always tell when my DC were coming down with something, because they smelt wrong somehow

Ooh that's an interesting question.

I can normally smell infections on the family, but we all had Covid over Christmas and I didn't notice anything... I didn't think I lost my sense of smell but now I'm wondering.

However, I saw my audiologist this week and he removed some wax, my ear then smelt bad and he said that usually indicates an infection - which I don't seem to have, so maybe that's the Covid smell?

Not sure about covid as to my knowledge we haven't had it ....but my children's breath always smells different when they have a cold or some kind of virus
