My whole household has covid

Grannypants55 · 18/01/2021 18:57

We lost my dad a couple of weeks ago due to covid. Now my whole household has it, me included. Feel like we need to air the house & give it a good spring clean, but we've hardly got the energy to get dressed or make a cup of tea.
There's nothing anybody can do or say, I probably just need to off load, as I already have done to friends & family. I know the answer is to just push myself to do the basics, but its just so hard

So sorry about your dad OP, I hope you're okay x

Glitterblue · 18/01/2021 19:00

I'm so sorry you lost your dad, that's so hard at the best of times, let alone all of you having covid as well. Try and get some rest and get better, and worry about the house once you feel up to it. Flowers

gooseygander88 · 18/01/2021 19:00

I'm sorry for the loss of your dad, what a rotten time to then get this as well 😢I Haven't long got over covid and to be honest my best advice is to rest as much as possible and do things in your own time. Me and my husband both had it and to be honest we didn't care about the house it was just getting through the day! There was times we felt better and did something which then took all the energy back out of us again! Rest up and look after yourselves!

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 18/01/2021 19:00

Sorry about your dad op and wishing you all a speedy recovery Thanks I think you need to recover first, then once you feel nearly at your best then you can blitz the house and clean everywhere. Cleaning now with chemicals when you have Covid would only make you feel worse I should think. Be kind to yourself

ScienceSensibility · 18/01/2021 19:03

Don’t even think about cleaning the house beyond the necessary for bathroom hygiene.

Just rest and recover.

Bookworming · 18/01/2021 19:05

Rest, rest, rest and recover.

I'm sorry about your dad Thanks

@changedmynamelol that's a disgusting comment. You should be ashamed of yourself.

tvwatcher · 18/01/2021 19:09

I'm so sorry OP for your loss and for what you're going thorough. I wish you a fast recovery and the strength to get through this dreadful time.

IHateCoronavirus · 18/01/2021 19:12

Sorry about your dad op. Flowers

Seconding the resting and more resting.
We had it at the start of first lockdown. I’d get a burst of energy, try and clean and then go down hill rapidly.

Wait till you’ve been good for a few days, then wait an extra week. If you still feel ok, maybe think about doing a bit of house work.

Speedy recovery to you and yours op.

Unescorted · 18/01/2021 19:16

Sorry to hear about your dad Flowers.

Take time to recover - from what friends have said it wipes you out again and again.

It is as well @youchangedyournamelol - you may be bored of it but the OP has had her life implode. Have some empathy or is that beyond your sad keyboard "hero" mentality?

frumpety · 18/01/2021 19:22

Yet you still chose to click onto the thread and make a comment @changedmynamelol Hmm

murbblurb · 18/01/2021 19:26

I am so, so sorry for your loss and what you are going through.

I agree - do the absolute minimum. While people probably can't come in at the moment, don't hesitate to ask for help from local volunteers. People can bring easy meals for you, take out bins etc etc. Once your quarantines are over, people can and will help further.

I wish you the very best.

Brighterthansunflowers · 18/01/2021 19:27

So sorry for your loss OP Flowers

Focus on rest and recovery now. Open windows to get fresh air in.

When you’re feeling up to it just do the essentials like kitchen surfaces and bathroom, but also change bedding if you can, just because you’ll feel much nicer in fresh bedding.

@changedmynamelol what a vile comment to make in reply to someone losing their parent. Fuck off back to your bridge.

Donewith2021 · 18/01/2021 19:29

Don’t push yourself. Just let some fresh air in by opening doors and windows or sit in the garden if you have one. Rest is the best healer.

So sorry for your loss 🌸 and I hope you all feel better soon! 🥰

IcanandIwill · 18/01/2021 19:30

Sorry about your dad OP.

Will opening the windows and letting in a good amount of air make you feel fresher?

Do take care, only do what is absolutely necessary.

CrumbsThatsQuick · 18/01/2021 19:30

Rest up OP. Take your time.
Maybe open the windows (or the back door?) for 10 minutes, get some air in? It might make you feel a bit less stuffy and should be low effort?

CrumbsThatsQuick · 18/01/2021 19:32

Sorry... seems to be a popular bit of advice. Sending love xxx

Have covid but live by myself - woke up this morning to the cat nibbling my fingers, I think she is preparing for self sufficiency if I don't wake up.

DayBath · 18/01/2021 19:35

You can get through this OP, lots of rest and the one thing people always forget is fluids! Drink way more water than you want to, give your kidneys less work to do and it will help with the dry cough and your energy levels.

Can you get someone to prepare food for your meals and leave on your doorstep? Or just eat cereal if you can't stand cooking. My heart goes out to you, it must be so tough dealing with illness and grief at the same time. I'm so sorry for your loss and I will pray for you if that's ok. Flowers

Bellablahhole · 18/01/2021 19:37

I'm so sorry for your loss OP Flowers. Please try to rest and recover.

@changedmynamelol You are a disgrace. Crawl back under your rock.
