Long Covid moan

I had (suspected as no tests) Covid last March, felt truly horrible and was close to calling for help but could manage to speak and lips weren’t blue which was the requirement at the time.

Long Covid just won’t go away! Went to see doctor about it in August and ended up on blood thinner for a month, chest ct and x-ray and ecg, which all came back clear. Gradually the chest pain cleared and whilst still not normal energy levels not feeling floored either.

I was feeling better over Christmas so thought I would do some light exercise to try and regain some fitness. I did the Joe Wicks 10 minute workouts which left me really out of breath and now the sore lungs have returned (could be coincidence?). It feels like something is pressing down on my chest and there is a tight band around my ribs, under my boobs, making it hard to take a deep breath. And the tiredness is back.

I’m taking a duvet day, snuggled up with the dog, reading and flicking though MN. But feeling sorry for myself and a bit worried. I’m only 43 and couldn’t even do a 10 minute old person workout!

How long is this going to go on for? What is the best to do to aid recovery? Anyone else in the same/similar situation?

I had covid in October, although only mildly, I have been suffering since with shortness of breath and palpitations. I've had an abnormal ecg but normal echo. Drs don't really know what to do.

Has anyone felt dizzy and lightheaded with it?

Is it feasible for your GP to refer you to whatever long Covid facilities exist in your area? Long Covid clinic (in UCLH, they have different ones for neurological and respiratory), a LC MDT, in addition to specific symptom-specific referrals?

OP - are you still on anticoagulants? The chest pain sounds like you might still have clots?

Frankinmachine · 08/02/2021 11:58

Op, I have exactly the same as you. I also didn’t have a test last March but my GP and Hospital Respiratory Unit have confirmed that I have Long Covid due to my symptoms over the last 11 months.

I also feel that I would like to start some sort of exercise but it’s so difficult as any exertion really sets me back and I end up having to go to bed at 6.30pm.

Like you, my main problem is my lungs, although all tests that I’ve had find nothing wrong. I’ve now been prescribed a steroid inhaler and my GP says I might now have asthma. I find that breathing cold air makes my lungs worse, so I’m trying to not spend any time outside at all. Central heating is also not good as it is very drying, so I use a humidifier in my bedroom before I go to sleep.

I might try some indoor walking exercise videos, and build up each week.

@TheLetterZ
I know this is quite an old thread, but how are you getting on? I tested positive in October and have similar symptoms to what you describe, I've had tests which are clear but it's making me really
Anxious

HSHorror · 04/05/2021 17:30

The pain could be costochondritis.

I had similar apr 2020 til jul 20.
Then flare ups with periods.
It was also truggered by bleach smell or wood burning.

My ongoing symtoms have been
Myscle twitching mainly in legs but can go up to chest. This seems to be improved with ibuprofen.
And numbness in hands mainly little finger after sleep. But has also happened to feet
