Daily press briefings? Where can I watch?

As said really.

People are talking about the daily press conferences but I don't know where I can watch if I want?

Can someone signpost me please

The bbc news website usually shows them.

itsgettingweird · 14/01/2021 17:08

I have that on now. Are they not 5pm?

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2021 17:10

I'm waiting for it too. They usually put up a link to the conference and if you have news alerts, one pops up.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 14/01/2021 17:10

They aren't daily at the moment. If you are on Facebook and follow either uk gov or boris Johnson they will send you a notification just before any briefings start. I then watch them on the BBC or follow the link onto Facebook

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2021 17:10

Ah the dashboard hasn't been updated yet they'll be waiting for that.

GhostOfChristmasPudding · 14/01/2021 17:11

I don't think there is one today. They don't seem to actually do them daily like before, but sporadically in the week when they deem them necessary. 🤷‍♀️

Spodge · 14/01/2021 17:12

Radio Times says there is one due today at 5pm (ha ha!) and that Hancock is doing it.

Whatsthepoint12345 · 14/01/2021 17:18

Didn't Boris say in his original one about the vaccinations that they would be doing daily briefings from Monday this week to let us know how they were doing? Is this another thing he didn't follow up on?

Rosehip10 · 14/01/2021 17:19

No mention on the news channel of any briefing tonight

user1471530109 · 14/01/2021 17:22

I thought they were supposed to be daily too. Pretty sure Boris said last week from Monday (this week). Confused

user1471530109 · 14/01/2021 17:23

There wasn't one last night either was there?

Whatsthepoint12345 · 14/01/2021 17:24

@user1471530109 Do you think they're not keeping up to what they've ambitiously planned and don't want to answer questions about it so they just don't bother with the daily briefings now?

atomt · 14/01/2021 17:24

I don't think they ever said daily briefings, just that we would get numbers on how many vaccinations have been given daily.

When they are on, I watch them on BBC News channel though.

itsgettingweird · 14/01/2021 17:25

Yeah I thought he said daily too.

Watched Mondays and then heard PP did one Tuesday which wasn't in bbc1.

So I checked today as wanted an update and found nothing!

Glad I'm not the only one who though they were daily!

user1471530109 · 14/01/2021 17:27

Wasn't the pp one on bbc1? I watched it on the BBC news app. I'd appreciate daily briefings during lockdown. Surely, despite everyone's fatigue, that if we are all staying at home following the advice, we should be addressed every evening?

user1471530109 · 14/01/2021 17:28

And given chance for press and public to ask questions

PuppyMonkey · 14/01/2021 17:30

If you tune into Radio Five Live around 5pm, they will always broadcast it live if there is one, that's how I keep track. Doesn't seem to be one today.

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2021 17:30

That is exactly how I feel. When we're in lockdown we need dailty briefings.

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2021 17:31

Ooh dashboard officially delayed so briefing either later or not at all presumably

user1471530109 · 14/01/2021 17:34

I think it would say on the BBC app if one was due later.

They've announced travel ban because of Brazilian variant. You'd think that would be worth announcement via briefing?

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2021 17:39

Yes and the other existence of the new variant at all which doesn't seem to be mentioned on the BBC, other than in the context of the ban

frustrationcentral · 14/01/2021 17:40

@Whatsthepoint12345

I thought this too
Whatsthepoint12345 · 14/01/2021 17:41

I don't think their vaccination ambition to 13m by mid-Feb is going well with all the bad publicity about how it's going at the moment and them not using all chemists to help so they probably don't want to answer questions on that at the moment. Also, the whole school meal fiasco is still causing bad blood and Boris only ever wants to come out if there's good news which I doubt there is at the moment.

TheWindOnTheMoon · 14/01/2021 17:44

www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-9132847/ANDREW-PIERCE-Plug-gets-pulled-Allegra-Strattons-West-Wing-briefings.html

This could be the reason why we're not getting daily briefings atm. Apologies for DM link - it was only one that came up Grin

FourTeaFallOut · 14/01/2021 17:44

Bad publicity about the vaccine? Today? Confused
