Has anyone relocated during corona and managed to change schools?

We had been looking at relocating and had finally managed to get a house quite a way away from where we are, question is how would a school transfer work, is it allowed because of corona?
The timing of finally being able to move is appalling but if we turn this house down it could be a long time before we get offered somewhere else but it would mean my kids would have to start school online at a new school.
Has anyone done this transferring kids under homeschooling online learning?

my sister and her family relocated back to the uk and got a house and state primary school places for her 2 in November. they weren't online then but getting a place wasnt an issue. starting online isn't ideal but surely better than nothing as they'd be at home anyway?

Yes we did this last year during the 1st lockdown and it was very straight forward.

A friend moved her 2 children during the Christmas break so they started online work beginning of January at the new school. All going good.

Good luck.

The process would be as normal. Apply for the school place with your new address. If there is space your children will get in. It's all online and not affected at all.

I handle some school admissions stuff and we've had loads move both in and out.

Yes, we did, we homeschooled from the original school from April, then switched over last September to the new school.

We moved right at the start of the first lockdown.

Got a place but, a child has to actually 'start' the school to be on the school roll. She hadn't set foot in the building so wasn't technically a pupil yet although she didn't have a place, so there was no home learning.

She had her first day in September.

Might be different now with home learning being etc though.

We have had several children leave to relocate in the UK and abroad since first lockdown. We've also admitted replacements to take their places.
It's been a little odd for the new starters, but all seem fairly settled and happy (we did have them in for a while eventually last term).

Yes we moved ds school and he was due to start this January but is now being home schooled until he can go into actual school. I just rang schools in the area to see which ones had places and filled out an application form.
