I get v v anxious when pregnant! Someone I work with (reasonably closely, with masks) has got pretty classic symptoms and is waiting on a test result. I now can’t stop worrying about getting it in early pregnancy and what might happen :( can someone talk me out of this mindset ? Or has anyone had it in the first trimester?

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/people-at-higher-risk/pregnancy-and-coronavirus/

There's no evidence that pregnant women are more likely to get seriously ill from coronavirus.

There's no evidence coronavirus causes miscarriage or affects how your baby develops in pregnancy.

Thank you . That’s reassuring to read x

Both primary-age DC and then DP had classic symptoms in March (slightly raised temperature and persistent cough for DC; being very poorly generally, loss of sense of smell, and worryingly high temperature for DP) when I was from six to eight weeks. Even self-isolating together I didn’t catch whatever it was (obviously no testing available back then) or possibly, if Covid, had it asymptomatically. Baby is napping peacefully beside me as I write.

Sorry, that’s not much help, but I also get very anxious in pregnancy and didn’t want to read and run.

Your colleague may turn out not to have it, but even if they test positive they haven’t necessarily passed it to you, and even if you do get it, you’ve got a great chance of having no ongoing problems yourself, or any related problems with your pregnancy.

Fingers crossed for you, OP Flowers

Thank you @SomethingOnce for your kind message. I do know that the risks are low but it’s hard to stop spiralling! I only found out about the pregnancy last week so not many people know and I haven't even referred myself for maternity yet!

It’s easier said than done, but your early pg is deserving of calm, so try not to meet trouble half way.

I’ll keep the thread in Watching if you feel like updating, and be wishing you well.

@Inhaleexhale23 I have been Covid positive in pregnancy (3rd trimester), and all is fine. Baby (still not here and now overdue!) is doing well. I was ill with it, but didn't need medical attention. Sense of smell is still poor, but it's very slowly improving. I know it seems scary, but try not to worry too much.

I knew someone who got covid and was poorly, recovered and found out a couple of months later she was 20 weeks pregnant! Baby arrived at full term and is doing well. If you’re worried perhaps speak to your midwife who could offer some advice and reassurance.

Oh that’s good OP I get horribly anxious in pregnancy. I hope you have as easy a pregnancy as possible.
