Anyone else had this. I'm fully recovered from a bout of Covid where I list smell and taste for a few days. All fine now, back to normal life. However I can now smell cigarette smoke all the time, similar to what I had when ill. Having read up it seems the anosmia can persist, but it seems weird that it has come back. It's really annoying, anyone else had similar?

I had the same issue but with the smell of gone off onions. It faded eventually. Still can’t eat peppers though as they taste like that smell. Coffee isn’t right either.

Ugh not sure if onions are better or worse. Glad it faded tho, it's really unpleasant

I lost my sense of smell back in Feb (probably Covid) and it took over three months to return. I kept burning food, couldn’t do a sniff test on clothes and DS got away with a rancid bedroom for months, although it was a relief not to be gassed by his trainers as I walked past them.
I noticed that i often woke up with very odd smells which included burning, urine and other unpleasant odours. These faded quickly once I was fully awake. It was very weird.
I would say it was at least six months for full recovery. Back to normal now.

Ooh hope I don't get other horrible smells too. Wish I knew why it had come back tho

This has just struck such a cord with me as I've had this faint stale smoke smell and inhaled smoke type feeling in chest/nose for weeks and stupidly never thought of relating it to Covid I had back early October. Probably because I had mild symptoms. My sense of taste and smell has largely returned but not quite. Hope it clears up eventually.
