Does dh now how to self isolate? His employer has text to tell him that 'if everyone has been what they should be then we should be ok' the guidance for self isolation isn't clear regarding close contact with work colleagues.

The employer doesn't want anyone to self isolate. His colleague has apparently put him down on the test and trace as someone he's had close contact with so I'm assuming he'll get a text from the NHS?

it'll completely depend how close he was to the colleague. That is what track and trace will make there decision on they will call the colleague and ask how close they were and how long for I believe

Dh has asked his colleague to put him down as a close contact given they have been working together less than 2m apart. His work haven't put any proper covid measures in place.

His employer should be reported to the police for his response, together with a copy of the text.

Where my son works, one person had symptoms so got a test and everyone who worked in that area was sent home. The guy tested positive, so everyone else began self isolating. The company sent out private tests for everyone and a further 5 out of 30 workers got tested positive, with only the first person having symptoms. The company presumed that all the others that got negative results could return to work. My son rang 119 and was informed that they all had to do the then 14 days isolation. Only one person was contacted by track and trace for their contacts.

He's decided to isolate but is concerned about the backlash. I'm assuming that his employer can't actually do anything because he's now self isolating.

Has he been contacted by test and trace yet?
When he does he can complete an isolation note online for his employer
If he was within 2m for 15 minutes or within 1m for only a few minutes then he is a close contact

No test and trace contact yet, but he's classed as close contact more than 15mins 1-2 metres apart.
