Can test results come at the weekend?

Had a drive through mobile test centre corona test on Thursday. It's still not come through. I know it can take up to three days. Just wondered if that includes the weekend? Or do they suspend testing over the weekend?

I hope so, I'm waiting on results. I believe the labs are operating 24/7

Yes they come through on weekends. I have had one New Year's Day and others at the weekend.

GinAndTonicOnIt · 09/01/2021 07:37

Phew thank you! So labs run as normal over the weekend? Makes sense, though I am surprised x

Yes I'm sure. Had mine back Xmas day

Of course they do, otherwise there would be a huge lag!

PleasantVille · 09/01/2021 07:42

This is the secon thread on this already today, you cant possibly be surprised that labs work every day, think about it, does the virus take the weekend off, are 2/7 of the positive cases allowed an extra 2 days for transmission? Do they do all the tests on Friday and think, we won't bother them over the weekend, let them infect granny Grin

@PleasantVille nice that you're comparing the lives of scientists to that of a virus 👍🏻

I had my test at 4.30pm on New Year’s Eve. Result came through 6.30am on Saturday 2nd - so they were working New Year’s Day.

I have no idea what that means but viruses don't take breaks, weekends or holidays and I'm pretty sure that scientists apply the same safety protocols whatever day of the week it is and like the millions who work in the healthcare system the work goes on every day (obvioulsy I do know that doesnt mean that any individual is there every single day)

You can't have lived through nearly 10 months of constant reporting of daily case number and not noticed that it's a 7 days a week process.

Yes they do , I went at 12 on a Sunday and got the results at 7 the same day .

Penguinkeeper · 09/01/2021 15:12

I had a drive through test on Thursday too and haven't received results yet either. Fingers crossed we both get negative results soon.

Yes they can.
